Not 13 years ago they didn't and those are just anti chafe disks up top with nothing on the lowers at all.

I don't know that. While you may have thought of it yourself, maybe even started the trend, just saying its no longer unique 13 years later. It is cool that you make them yourself, I do appreciate any hand made or modified things that work. Take the credit for making them popular :D

    Well fine then.
You would not believe the flack people put up back then, "That will just trap dirt" "They will rust up in no time" "Don't get any lube near the Heim, the liner will melt". Yeah,OK.

I had an extra grille and some 1/8" flexi-plastic, so what the heck. I just trimmed some of the more pronounced parts of the grille, zip tied the plastic on and voila. Makes a big difference in warm-up time and therefore gas consumption especially when you're in the grip of a polar vortex.

I would take that off once it starts to warm up, not likely that you will overheat the engine but anything is possible

Forgive the blurry photo. But I installed a temp gauge for the a/c and stuck the probe down the vent. You might think it's weird. But living in Az and having a heads up on any ac problems is nice. I always had those crappy needle thermometers in the vent which always ended up breaking or not reading right so I did this mod.

There's been some talk lately on the daily thread about battery disconnects.
This little fellow is more of a "no tools required" thing. It simply replaces the nut on the terminal clamp bolt of the "mil spec" connector and functions like a permanently attached non-conductive ratchet wrench. A180 degree swing is all it takes.
