My Girlfriend's Dad is considering selling his pride and joy.

    It's a 2004 Toyota Tacoma 4WD Double Cab Automatic
It only has 25,000 miles on it.

    Mods:
    -2nd gen supercharger
    -2.1" pulley
    -7th injector
    -Water/meth injection
    -King front coil overs
    -Total Chaos Upper Control Arms
    -Dakars in the rear
    -5100 bilsteins in the rear
    -Gauge pod on A pillar
    -TRD headers
    -TRD exhaust

He's the original owner, never been in an accident, garaged since driven off the lot. Touched dirt once.

Unfortunately to most people (non-modification people) all the aftermarket parts lower the value. Around here it would be in the 11-13 range.

Now the real question is do we sell it now or keep it and sell it later.

You guys think it's going to appreciate or depreciate?

I disagree with these. First gen double cabs with 100-150K are selling for that out here.

This seems more accurate. It's hard to say though being it's so rare to see one with only 25K.

Don't think the truck will appreciate. Gotta be worth at least 15,000- 16,000 around my neck of the woods though.

You think it'll stay the same though with maybe 10,000 more miles.

I personally don't want him to sell it either. I'm hoping I can push him into driving it more often and possibly falling back in love with it.

Tell him to keep it! I regret selling my double cab just like that everyday.

Tell him to keep it for 4 more years and put less than 10k miles on it during that time, and then I'll buy it!

Your best bet is getting a estimate from Carmax and then go from there. They will ask you about all your mods/add ons and give you a estimate that is good for 7 days. I was shocked with the price they gave me for my 2011 Tundra. Good luck.

Maybe there but not here. No one outside of a knowledgable Tacoma person will pay more for a first gen than a 2nd gen. To the general public it's the "old style" and therefore not as valuable. A first gen hasn't sold around here for more than $13k in years.
Us 1st gen guys know better and know the value of those parts but normal everyday truck people don't know or care.

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
Yeah here in CA low mileage 1st gens sell high. if that truck was at the dealer I bought mine from it would be pushing 20k. I myself would pay 15k for it its hard to find them with that low of mileage.

So even with like 50,000 miles, I could still get $17k for it?

Maybe on a dealer lot you could get $17k-$20k for if it had 50k miles. As it is now, with 25k miles, I'd say he could get 15-17 K $ (private party sale) but he should have a high asking price. It's all about finding the right buyer who wants what you have and has the $ to spend

Yes,as long as it continues to be maintained like it has up till now. But like snowman said, it would probably have to be a tacoma fan. Personally I would keep the truck.g

Its like a brand new 10 year old truck. Get him to sell to his daughter for a smoking deal.
