Well I had a buddy of mine I thought i could trust install a gibson cat back on my 2013 Tacoma. I drove about 15 miles before i realized something didn't feel right, when i got out and inspected the exhaust i found out he installed it backwards. Could this of caused any serious issues with my truck? Its got me extremely worried right now. The muffler is a straight-through type that is baffled and chambered according to Gibson. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Did it make any engine lights come on? How does it run now that it is installed correctly?

The check engine light did not come on. It almost felt like it was "sputtering" a bit when it was on backwards. I had to leave my truck at my buddies house so i could make it to work so I have not driven it yet since he has installed it "correctly".

I wouldn't worry about it. It's not like you drove it 200 miles. That short of a distance, I don't think it hurt anything.

The Gibson muffler does have a arrow etch on it that shows the direction it's suppose to go which is to the rear. I assume it would be idiot proof for everyone but I guess I was wrong :D

BTW don't over tighten the u-bolts because it will crush the piping and WILL cause exhaust leaks.

Curious...what do you mean when you say "something didn't feel right"?

Yes, you have a problem. The only way to solve it is to take the muffler off your truck and bang it on your buddy's head a few times.

All it would cause is a reduce in power, essentially it would be more restrictive.

That would help psychologically, but the dented muffler might not flow so well any more.

I took my bike to a reputable Harley dealer for a new rear tire. They put it on backwards. That has an arrow as well.

    I agree.
The only muffler I know of that could cause real problems if it was run backwards is Flowmaster. They use one-way anti reversion measures in their mufflers and come with big orange labels on them to make sure they're installed in the right direction.
