My new to me 1990 Coleman pop up camper. It looks every bit of 1990 so I've decided to do some updating to it.

    Here she sits, unmolested.

Got the top painted. I used Rustoleum oil based enamel and applied it with a roller. It came out really good I think.

After that I used an eraser wheel to get the graphics off the sides. It was taking longer than I wanted to I tried to use Goo gone and just peel them off. That didnt work very well so I went back to the eraser wheel.

I got the sides finished up here. She is all white now. I've got a friend making me some new graphics for the sides that I should have on later this week.

Not pictured is the freshly painted rear bumper and tounge/hitch. I used a 4.5" sanding disk on my electric grinder. Primed with rustoleum self etching primer then shot a coat of rustoleum black automotive paint then a coat of rustoleum truck bed spray for a bit of texture and added durability.

I should have new wheels and tires for it today if UPS is on time. I will also be adding some diamond plate to the front and rear to help protect it from road wear.

This coming weekend I will start on the inside. For being 24 years old its in great shape. I just want to modernize it.

    -paint the cabinets, replace hardware
    -install new vinyl flooring
    -add a mini fridge
    -repair a broken cabinet

Nice work man. I looked at a coleman that had the fiberglass top like that. It had a big chunk missing on the front and quite a bit of water damage. I passed on it as it was going to be more work than I wanted to get into, and he was asking way too much.

Luckily the roof, canvas, and floor are in great shape on mine :bananadance:

Thanks! The Coleman pop-ups are awesome! Easy to tow & easy for storage because of their size. Post some pics of her opened up when you finish.

Made a little progress on Saturday. Got the cabinet doors and hardware off and everything primed with two coats. Now I have to wait for payday to buy actual paint...

These two are ready to go camping![IMG]

I didn't make near as much progress as I wanted to this weekend...Owell I guess.

This picture also shows the new side marker lights and wheels/tires.

The AC shroud cover is in the backyard getting painted and will go on this weekend

Nice job. Ours is a 91 model and looks just like your "before" pictures, probably a little more worn even.

If I am not mistaken that is the aluminum roof which seem to last forever without leaks. My roof needs painting too, a some of the bare aluminum is showing and I am pretty sure my repeated washing with caustic cleaners (like 409) caused this.

One tip on the AC shroud, in case you don't know it already. If you see the front of it bouncing up and down a lot on the road, this is a design problem Coleman had way back then with the shrouds too flexible. They will soon develop cracks and probably blow off eventually. So if you haven't done so already, find or fabricate two strips of metal with holes drilled to match the bolts holding both sides of the shroud. Place these reinforcment strips underneath the nuts to stiffen the shroud lengthwise.

correct, the aluminum roof rocks! I looked at a few with the plastic roofs and they were all garbage.

My AC shroud is in good shape but I will add the reinforcement that you suggested. Ive read about it on popupportal.com as well. seems like a cheap and easy mod.

Nice! You put a lot of work into that roof, Chris.

Ive got the inside painted up and half of the floor done. Im going to pull out the bench seats and lay the new vinyl under them rather than have to cut pieces around them...haha

I plan on updating the bench covers eventualy. The fabric thats on there now is only stapled from the back side so It should be an easy project. Im over budget on this project so Im gonna wait and see if I can find some fabric on clearance somewhere...haha
