Okay I had strut spacers and as I was removing them to replace my spindle with a a maxtrac I realized one of the three nuts was stripped. How can I get it off I tried a lot already with the locking pliers, tried litterly everything even this spray tht was suppose to loosen it a bit and no luck!!!

    Please help!

Well if you tried everything then nothing will work.

But serious need a pic of the damage to see what you're talking about. I am envisioning the area and if it's outer side may be an easy fix minus you'll need a new nut. If it's inner that's gonna be tricky. Have you tried heat to break it loose?

It's not the bolt on the very top, it's the bolt connecting the spacer and the shock. It's not the bolt that ties up the spacer to the frame. Although it is the bolt that is accessible without having to remove the complete shock if that makes any sence?

Take a cold chisel and use it to use the nut off. I have done that in a few different situations. Needs to be a good chisel though.

You take a cold chisel used for cutting metals. Just split the nut vertically.

You may could also try welding a nut to the damaged nut and use the "new" nut to turn it off.

Take a cutoff wheel and grind the head off the stud and replace the stud. Just throwing out options.

I'm nt so sure how I would replace the stud, I was really close to cutting it off but thought it may be dangerous. As far as the chisel goes I'm not sure how well tht will work? I was thinking of getting it welded but not sure of a welder around my area

Bolt - grip will work wonders in this situation. Any autoparts store, sears, or harbor freight will have em in stock.

Get a nut splitter. Basically does the same as a chisel but a little more controlled. We have them at most auto part stores for $10- $12.

Some times works quick and easy other times you have to work at it. With those type of nuts that are shouldered on the bottom it can be a pain, but it can still do it with a little work and alot of cussing.

Mix any ATF (transmission fluid) with acetone in equal amounts in a spray bottle. Shake it up, spray it on the bolt, and nut(s) to be removed, making sure to get it on the threads of the bolt especially so it can penetrate downward into the threads of the nut.

I suggest removing the whole strut/spring assemble from the truck first. Use the fancy sockets as pictured above to remove the stuck nut. Get a new one from Ace Hardware or a smaller type hardware store. The big stores (Home Depot/lowes) tend to not carry the myriad of different nuts and bolts while the smaller ones do. You can pretty easily match up the nut for correct bore and thread pitch.

If that doesn't work, get the nut splitter as mentioned above from an auto parts store (Orielly auto version here). As you can see, it is a screw in cold chisel with holder to keep you centered on the nut and pushing the point in the correct direction. This won't be easy turning, but will break the nut so it can be removed and replaced. Be careful not to drive the nut splitter too far so you mess up threads on the bolt.
