    Hello All,

Earlier today I started the truck up and while I was pulling out of the driveway one of the front wheels was making a shudder, sending a vibration up to the steering wheel, and sounded like it was grinding against something. So I put the truck in reverse and heard something hit the ground. Found this thing sitting near the truck on the ground.

I was hoping if one of you guys can help me out and tell me what this is and if I can mend it at home. I don't want to try to get it to the dealer if its gonna fall apart mid drive.

    Thank you for your help,
    Matt

Hey Matt I can't tell how large that is but it might be the pin that holds the brake pads in place?

Looks like a brake pad retaining pin.... you have the 4 piston calipers right? I would check that tire it sounded like it was grinding in. There should be a wire or spring holding it in place.

Looks like a pin that holds the brake pads in to me too.

BTW, the brake pad pin is NOT supposed to have that bend in it

Never seen this happen before. Must have worked its way out over time after the cotter-pin sheared off. Easy to fix, if you have a replacement pin (and new cotter).
