I did the same, except they tried to come back and $200 was added to it.
I got so mad after we agreed. I told them you really are going to let me walk out over $200. So I did and went and bought my truck down the road in the actual color I wanted too.

Doc fee vary from dealer to dealer. I've seen from $40 all the way to $600.

I've bought several cars in AZ. Seems like they are always trying to add some fee or another. The TDA is like the desert association or some other crap make believe add on. Plenty of Toyota dealers in the valley. Walk IF your not happy. IF your happy then go for it. Make sure they gas you up though before you leave. Seems like they all want to deliver on an empty tank!

I'm with Chris and Murph ... never heard of the TDA ... as Murph so eloquently put it, tell the dealer they can use it as an anal suppository.

I bet they aren't the only show in the area. Find another dealer.

TDA = Toyota Dealers's Association (Advertising)

It's a regional advertising fee that dealer's are billed (on the invoice) from the factory. It's a legit fee and is a non-profit item. It is NOT refunded to the dealer at a later date, like holdback and wholesale financial reserve.

It basically pays for the commercials you see on TV or hear on the radio.

I have never heard of this fee before either and I have bought "several" new cars and trucks over the years. Doesn't surprise me as the end consumer is getting stuck with more and more fees.

My dealer wanted some ridiculous amount for the transfer on my used 2008.
I asked them if the took the paperwork to Harrisburg in a limo and I told them I already had plates, TYVM.
Did the deal, said I'd be back in an hour and transferred my plates at the local notary.
Like 39 + about 20 for the counter help, etc.

The TDA is a 'double charge'. Dealer advertising IS a legitimate fee but it's in the price of the vehicle already. The only fees i'm aware of are Gulf States Toyota and Southeast Toyota have regional fees that appear to be legitimate (if you check Edmunds for a build, itll list these fees)
So, with the paperwork fee (doc fee) dealers have a legitimate cost of doing business if they do your loan paperwork, get your title and plates, mail them to you, etc. these are all business charges they try to recoup; but are optional. The actual title and plate chrges are set by the state and are in addition.
Tell them the TDA is already in the price; no dealer around here charges it separately. Doing your registration, loan etc is worth about 150 for their labor.
not sure of your build 3TMLU4EN1EM162253, 4wd DC v6 AT model 7594with following is about 31,500 here, invoice: plus about $200 in paperwork charges & title/tags; nothing more: exhaust tip, towing pkg, floormats/sill protectors, entune display audio & trd sport pkg.

    Good luck.

Make sure they don't put there advertising on your vehicle. If they do you want it off or $400.00 for advertising fees.

All I can say is you're smart for staying away from those crooks at Findley Toyota of Flagstaff! I had to get the state's Atty general involved when they charged me for the extended platinum care warranty, and never turned it in to corporate.

I only found out that they pocketed the money when I called corporate to cancel the coverage and request a refund. Good thing I took the time to cancel it and didn't find out later down the road when I might have had a claim

Hmm that's a little disturbing. Makes me not even want to go there for the 2 years of free oil changes. I checked around and couldn't get a better deal, and the TDA fee was printed on the dealer invoice unless that was fake, which I doubt. I got the doc fee reduced, and got them to throw in a bed mat. They also did the "$480 protection package" with clear paint declas, scotch guard, etc. I'm happy with the deal and have no buyer's remorse for the first time after buying a new vehicle. Good salesman I guess, or I'm more of a sucker than I thought.

Anyway, the truck is awesome and I'm happy with everything but the stereo. I expected better with the Entune that came with it. I've always installed aftermaket stereos myself and it looks like I'll be doing that again.

Thanks for the advice everyone, and please try to restrain yourselves from call me a dumb-ass for paying too much. One thing that I found amusing was when I was trying to haggle, he pointed to the MSP, and I said "nobody pays that." He said I'd be surprised how many people do, and also said they're the happiest customers. Ignorance is bliss I guess.
