I hear ya missileman and that was my thought as well.As I said, the dealer said no way,and the wheel guy said no problem but I'm not 100%convinced....Feeling a little over the barrel actually.

Must admit that I've been thinking about them powdercoated black though.

Also, isn't the integrity of the wheel compromised, as its changing on the inside?? i would be concerned about safety issues...my .02

I also went to the dealer here in Indy yesterday. The customer relations manager said a Toyota rep would need to look at them and determine if it was a defect in the wheel or "customer related". The wheels would then need to be refinished. I also wonder about the integerity if the alloy has a problem.

Keep in mind guys that it was the guy who refinishes the wheels who said it was a problem with the casting process not Toyota....He said that there must have been some moisture on the wheel when it was coated. My interpretation was that it was a finish problem not an alloy one.....My thought is that if the dealer is willing to foot the bill to have the wheels re-done to my specifications,I'm OK with it.

Don't you have a bumper to bumper warranty since it's an '07? If I were you I would put up a huge stink and go right up the corporate ladder. I have done this in the past on other things and I got it done my way.

If you go to the dealer and start making a scene in the showroom while customers are around, things might get done much quicker.

Took my truck to the dealer today for its 15,000 mile service showed him the “bubbles” on my rims. He called me about an hour later and said he had ordered 4 new ones under warranty.

Well I just got back from the appointment with the Toyota rep. Basically he said since it is caused by an outside source (some sort of chemical or enviormental substance) it would not be covered by warranty. I am pissed. He said if it were one wheel he could say it was a defect, but with all 4 it is something besides a manufacture defect. I did not go to the dealer I bought it from because I don't live near that one now. Maybe I will go to that one and see what they say. I am speachless. What should I do?

I went back to my dealer yesterday and spoke to the service manager.I explained that I had given it a lot of thought and that I would not be happy with re-finishing.I told him that I was aware of other Tacoma owners that were having the exact same problem and some were having them replaced.I suggested that this indicates that Toyota recognizes that there is a problem.I also respectfully asked that if it was his truck,9 months old, would he be happy in my posistion.....What I asked him to do was contact his people and tell them that the customer was demanding new wheels, and would not be satisfied with anything less.He told me he would contact me as soon as he knew something, and genuinely seemed to want to help.

We'll see.

The rep in my case would not budge. I need to go to another dealsership and see if I get a better response. This is just not right. So much for bumper to bumper.

First your truck is still too fresh for them to be getting f**ky with you. Second, Squad, when you're right-you're right and stick to it. With big dollar stuff like this they'll always try to make you eat it. You have to be 1 notch louder in your conviction IMO

Dropped off a copy of my email corespondance with a member who had his wheels replaced under warranty immediately,no questions asked....My dealer was passing it along to Toyota Canada and feels that this should be buttoned up by next week.In the mean time he checked the availability of my new set for when he gets the green light and SURPRISE....70 TRD wheels on backorder right now.Looks like someones been ordering them.
