I will be ordering my OME Kit this Friday. 881 coils with NitroChargers and the Dakar Leafs. I heard somewhere that the leafs are a little weak, and to fix it is to get AAL. Is this true? Also, will I get everything I need in the kit? Even small stuff such as bushings and cotter pins? I'm trying to make a list of stuff I need to get before hand so I can just focus on the install instead of going to buy stuff and getting nothing done. Thanks guys!

If they are anything like the 2ng gen Dakars I really doubt you will find them weak.

OK good. Brand new to this stuff so I'm quadruple checking everything out before I make my purchase.

Well I've had two of those huge white marine coolers loaded with food for three days for 20 people (easy 300 lbs), another cooler, 5 guys and their clothes for the weekend along with a 87 Ranger bass boat on the back and I was sitting level. That's a second gen though. I didn't have OME setup on my 1st gen so can't say if there is a difference. If I put the AAL on my 2nd gen I'm sure it would rattle my liver loose.

Well my current suspension is the same as when it came out the factory 13 years and 180k miles later, so it rides like absolute shit. It will shatter your spine. So anything is an upgrade from what I have now. Not to mention my dry-rotted tires don't help either lol.

Get the AAL. You will not regret it. I would hate not having it on there. Love the load capacity and the ride with a few hundred pounds in the bed.

With running 881s, you'll be sitting a bit ass-high with the AAL and the bed unweighted.

After 4 years of running the basic Dakar pack I'm just now considering installing the AALs I've had sitting in the garage for a few months now.

You can always install the AAL after you've let the regular Dakars settle for a bit and get a feel for how they handle.

I'm running 881s and originally put the AAL in the leaf pack during installation. It was ridiculously raked. I mean beyond "it will settle" ridiculous. That's with a topper.

    So I took it out.

I did a camping trip to NM with at least 400 pounds in the bed with just the Dakar leafs. It handled the weight incredibly well and sat level. Without any load in the bed there is just a slight (IMO perfect) rake.

I just ran a mild trail this past weekend with an empty bed and the suspension performed beautifully. I have a feeling I will be more than satisfied wheeling a more difficult trail with a decent load in the bed.

Like TomTom, I will wait until these leafs begin to sag a bit then I'll throw the AALs in giving a bit more life to the rear.

Oh whoops, I missed the 881 part. Yeah may want to leave it out at first and see how you like it. If you constantly have a load in the bed then the AAL would be a good option with the 881s.

I definately had to do this. The dakars tend to ride near flat as per design. BUT, if you are going to get a swingout bumper and carry a lot of "overlanding stuff" then the are not quite beefy enough IMHO

Complete OME kit w/ 881's and dakars. All-Pro Sliders, CB, HAM Radio and various other minor stuff.
If you order the complete OME kit from Wheelers, you'll get all of the parts and brackets that you for the install. If you do have any questions, Josh at Wheelers can help.

Will do. I changed my mind to the 883's because I want it level with 3" of lift. However, I am hoping that it isnt that harsh of a ride with the 883's because I didnt plan on putting a heavy duty front bumper on my truck. Maybe a bull bar at most.

How is the ride with the 883's? I noticed you dont have a heavy duty bumper.

Yes I do ;) rides great IMO. Still rough on small washboard type stuff but I attribute that to my E load rated tires more than the 883s. It's fine when I've got a load of camping gear though.

Haha I judged from your sig pic. I wasnt planning on getting one. I'm going to try to get video of how mine rides as of now. Bad ball joints, shot suspension, and dry rotted tires. I hope its better than what I have now because the ride is TERRIBLE
