Well... it's new for me. It's a 2005 Access Cab 4x4 SR5 with a manual transmission and rough country lift kit. It's from California I think. It certainly must have come from a salt-free state since there's almost no rust on it. Despite the banged up appearance, and the fact that it has 152k hard miles on it, it actually drives really nice. Engine's smooth, it doesn't pulls to the side, everything works except the radio (and then only because the antenna's missing) and it has surprisingly few rattles. Oh, the rides actually quite good for a truck. It's no Rolls Royce, but it doesn't wobble or bang about. Then again, I can't complain much since I only paid 3000$ for it. Whatcha all think? Good deal?

I was actually surprised at how FAST this thing is. I'm no stranger to trucks, but I'm mostly used to driving work/farm trucks. The last one I drove (it wasn't mine) was a 2013 Ford F350 4x4 with the 6.2 engine, and that thing was slower than hell, even with 385hp. My Tacoma, with 239hp, could easily smoke it in any sort of race. That blew my mind. I'd say the Tacoma is about as fast in a straight line as an 80's era Camaro Z28 or Monte-Carlo SS, which is pretty impressive. On a twisting road it's not so good, but then again I'm not expecting miracles with a lift kit. It'd be like trying to do parkour in high heels.

Put a proper lift in her, and she will corner better than stock! Looks like you got a great deal, and a great platform for a wicked looking off road truck!

    Welcome to TW

call me Buzz Killington, but shes probly got a bad head gasket. most higher mileage 05's need this, and perhaps that's why it was so cheap.

Either way, you still got a killer deal! Congrats

It was definitely a steal. I wasn't looking for another vehicle when it was brought up for sale, but the price was so low that it was worth taking a risk on it. Another thing of note is that there isn't any real rust on the body. Sure, it's banged up, but it isn't rusted at all. The bottoms of all the doors look brand new. Hell, it even came with a set of brand new winter tires. The only real issues are the fact that second gear is a bit tricky to get in (so there might or might not be a problem there) the transfer case leaks a bit, it needs new weatherstripping for the doors, and new sets of brake pads all around. Other than that and a really really REALLY good tune up, it should work kind of like new when I'm done. Toyota's even sent me a recall letter for the frame issue. So that might get completely changed as well.

Since I paid so little for it, I might mod it out. I have no idea what I want to do yet, but I figure getting some decent off-road tires and wheels and maybe trying to coax an extra 20-30hp out of the engine is a reasonable goal.

    Welcome to TW! :)

$3K is a SMOKING deal. Hell, I paid $2,500 for my 1996 singe cab with 256,000 miles on it!

Seems like a hell of a deal to me. And think of all that money saved to go towards mods! :)

    What a deal!!!
Youll probably spend another 500 cleaning her up and then its all yours for the modding!
