This is so true. I have said it many times. People who say he sucks don't ever see the shit he has to do. Plays with a 4-5-6 guy forced into a top line role all the time but he gets the slack. Before he hurt his shoulder last season he was like +21 playing against Crosby, ovechkin, stamkos, and every other top line in the east. He never publicly said it but with like 20 games to go he got hit hard and left a game for a bit. Then missed every practice to end the season. That's when the team had a downfall. They rely on him way too much

 

Kimmo is done.... Heard some talk on the news this monring... can't be on blood thinners while playing a impact sport.

Ill miss him..

 

thats messed up. I work with a few guys on blood thinners and ya theres no way they could play hockey. One of them cant use force for anything without busting an eye blood vein. Sad a good player cant finish his career like that

 

I hope he's not done done - he has to get one last league tour

 

I have hated Phaneuf since his juniour days, watched him play against the Kootenay Ice and he was a dirty bastard then too. Many fans booed him Like he was PK in Boston. Then he was a Flame, now a Leaf. My two most hated teams.
Having said that, the bastard is a good hockey player, that's mostly why I hate him. He's mean, tough and has some talent to boot.
Respect (grudgingly) but hate.

 

Some guys have managed to overcome blood clots, but if this isn't the case it's too bad for Kimmo. As a leafs fan he was always a solid D we saw lots of and played with class. All players must retire at some point.

Ya I feel like that about guys like Lucic and Brown. Hate them, but they are great at when they do.
Phaneuf is worth 7 mil too, anyone who thinks logically can understand. The cap was like 56.7 mil. Thats like 5.75 mil then which people would have thought was a fair price. with a possible 75 mil cap next year and 80 mil the following year, 7 mil is fair both ways.
Think about Brooks Orpik getting 5.5 mil and Niskanen getting 5.75 mil. Just imagine how much teams would have paid to get phaneuf for free?

 

He can play until he's 70 in the KHL...no hitting over there.

 

In the KHL do they play on Olympic style rink?

 

Size wise? Yes it's the wide international version. So there's plenty of places to hide without getting hit.
