Wouldn't that just fail the inspection and result in a re-frame?

Thus you've basically got a new truck underneath? I don't necessarily see why that's a bad thing and why you should rush to sell/trade it?

I have seen many ads for the 01-04 Tacomas touting a new frame as a positive thing.

 

I really wished that I could have kept my '01 with a new frame. Thing was fucking rock solid after that new frame.
Drove better than new.

 

Its going great! I really don't think this stuff will come off easily, even after a couple of years on the road.

 

Morning all

 

One of those mornings today.

 

I had originally planned on riding the Kawasaki in to work today, but the battery was dead because I haven't ridden it in nearly 2 months . Of course, I found this out after I wheeled it out of the garage, checked the tire pressures, and inflated them to the correct level.
So no big deal, I've been riding the Suzuki nearly every day, I'll just take it again today and charge the battery on the Ninja when I get home tonight. So I wheel the Suzuki out of the garage (after pushing the Ninja back in), zip up my jacket, and hop on. Get down to the bottom of my hill and think "man, I'm getting a hell of a draft on my stomach" (mind you, it was 44 degrees at my house this morning). Look down, and the zipper has split from the bottom up. Turns out the little locking tab at the bottom of the zipper is broken.
So I ride back up the hill, put the Suzuki back in the garage, unlock the house and put my helmet and jacket back inside, and drive the Tacoma in today.

Then when I get to work, one of my coworkers informs me that the system in one of our other warehouses has crashed, and of course it's the warehouse with the other ordering center for the company. So today we've got me and 4 coworkers handling all of the orders for 11 warehouses. Should be fun.


It's not even 8AM and I need a beer.

That's what I was saying. You said the coating is the first step but if the frame is bad enough, they have to skip that step. If they'll re-frame the truck for free, I'd keep it as well. First thing I'd do with the new frame though is yank it apart, grease the LCA bushings, coat the frame with something that will actually stand up to salt and then drive the truck into the ground (if you can get the frame coated before they install it, that would be ideal but I doubt they'd let you do that)

My refillable ecig died the other day, so today I picked up this badboy


$31 for the pen, then $8 for a 10mL bottle of double espresso juice. The tank on the pen is 1.6mL, so I'll get a decent use out of a bottle. Yay not smoking cigarettes!
