I had a Tundra crewmax 2wd and in city was 12-13 mpg. I did love the room though.

For long trips the Tundra was the best, for around town the Tacoma is much easier to get around and lighter on the wallet.

Ford f150 ecoboost to pull the trailer and put the kids in the back. Traded in my double cab with my one of my kids in the back with rear facing seats. No room in the front my knees where in the dash of the truck when I'm not driving. Could only go back two spots in the seats and im only 5 foot 8. Tacoma struggled to maintain speed pulling a 4000 pound trailer on the highway over 65 mph. So i went with a 2014 crew ford f150 ecoboost with more then enough power to upgrade a travel trailer in a few years and theres tons of room in the back and a lockable tailgate. I do miss how much it is easier yo park the tacoma thou. Like the bigger fuel tank 136 liters thou.

Just bought a dclb trd sport, i have a 2 years old boy and another baby coming, there is plenty of room for the kids in the back, even tho i didnt get to try the seat facing the back yet, and i haul a 21feet travel trailer no problem. I would suggest to invest in airbags (firestone riderite) if you plan to haul a lot. Anyways if you have anymore questions feel free to ask :)

Well I talked to the wife she thinks we ought to hang on to the duramax for another year or two and then go buy the tundra cummins when it comes out! I like te way she thinks !!!

But isn't one reason you want to sell the diesel is because it's expensive?

Yes but if the tundra cummins is as fuel efficient as they say it would likely be worth it

Yhea, you can pull a mother fn spaceship!
But if not towing more than 5th like the other guy, than the tundra would be overkill!
My six year old fits fine in the back seat with the car seat.
    Good luck.

I had an 03 duramax for 10 years. Sold it after 220,000 trouble-free miles when I didn't have to tow a big boat anymore. Are all these cars/trucks paid for? How many miles on the duramax? I personally didn't find upkeep that much more on the diesel than a gasser. I'd say keep the duramax and the camry if they're paid for, sell the corolla and put the money in the bank. On the other hand, i'm sure you know that duramax commands a premium because that year is pre-EPA bullshit. I guess my point is if you lean toward the tundra you would be better off keeping the diesel; if you lean toward the tacoma sell the dmax and the corolla. Hope this clarifies things lol.

I'm 6 foot 1 with two car seats in the back seat and I have plenty of room in my DC tacoma. You must be hitting that gangster lean hard, dude!

I heard ford was putting heated tailgates on those trucks so your hands don't get cold when your pushing them home in the winter.

The Camry and corolla are paid for and I owe $10k on the duramax.. And yes I know the duramax is worth big money to a lot of people it's only got 59k on it... I stand to get more than I paid for it if I sold it..

Another thought of mine would be to sale the corolla and use that money to almost pay for the dmax

I'd say might be something wrong with your Duramax or its your driving style because those MPG seem a little low. With basic mods (tuning, exhaust & synthetics) you should be in the low 20s with stock sized tires.

I have an 2006 3500 Express Cargo van with the 4L85 (4sp) and I'm lugging around 4500# in the rear and I am getting 17-18 on the highway. IF I unload the van, I am getting 20-24 mpg. Before you say, that's a Van and its different, just think of it as a 2wd truck with a cap and the trans missing the Granny1st and OD2 gears (if you have the Allison 6sp). My Duramax is "low mileage" at 140k and I've done less work to it than my old '05 4Runner with 150k.

I would keep the Duramax. Unless you really want to sell your Duramax and you can wait, sell it Privately. Pre-DEF Duramax's in Maryland/Virginia still hold stupid high values and mileage doesn't mater.

Not going to jump in and say they are garbage, but the numbers are VERY different on the economy. EPA has them rated at 21-28 MPG. The 28 would be no load, driving 55 mph, on a flat road. You would see an average maybe closer to 23. Yeah, more than the Duramax, but not enough of a difference to warrant the cost of trading in a truck that is paid for, for one that would require payments that would be higher than a Tacoma that would be more suited for the OP. Besides, while I do love GM overall when working on them, right now their track record is not the best, and guess who owns 50% of the company that MAKES the Ford Ecodiesel? Yep, GM. They were actually going to put that into one of the Cadillac models for Europe several years back, but it fell through.
