I have read numerous threads about what to do and not to do on your Tacomas. I have just recently purchased a 2010 crew cab, 4x4, LB. I will be putting both front and rear road armour bumpers, 33" Nitto trail grapplers, Warn zeon 8-s, rock slider rails and some aftermarket wheels. I will also be making this my hunting rig and plan on making a high rack that I can take in and out as needed. This will probably weight about 500lbs when completed. I want to make sure to do the correct lift that will handle the weight and trails. What would you go with? Icon, OME, Bilstein????

    Getting there...
OME. It seems like their suspension is geared more for overlanding stuff and with that much weight, the Dakars will be happy. If you got the coin, go for coilovers, but I think you'll be happy with Dakars to go with them.

They do nothing on the 2nd gens. They actually rotate the diff in a way where it cannot be properly lubricated and, hence, causing more damage.

Too poor to list anything interesting.

It really comes down to your preference, application, and the amount you are willing to spend.

    depends on your budget, OP

I'd say go with a good coilover so you can choose the appropriate coil depending on how much weight you put on the front

and AP expos in the rear. their weight capacity is crazy good

these are mine with almost 500lbs in the back

Why do you say no top plate and diff drop? The diff drop has nothing to do with the springs or shocks, just cv angles correct? Top plate spacers only move the spring and shock down limiting down travel.

My understanding is the 886 are a stiff spring designed for heavy loads on the front but if you want 3 inches in the front you would have to put about a 1/4 top plate spacer. Am I missing something?

Properly lubricate? Isn't this done when the gears go round and round?

Top plate spacer with 886 issues (premature CV boot wear and tear):

    Diff drop horror story:
    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/118545-remove-differential-drop-your-05-tacoma.html

Diff drop causes the lubricating fluid to not adequately lube the gears causing damage.
