I had a 06 single cab 4 cyc. pre runner. loved the truck regret getting rid of it. that being said i just got a 4 door 4 cyc, pre runner. i searched for this truck for about 6 months. The salesman always look at you sideways when you tell them you want a 4cyc. anyway mine i get about 24mpg on the hwy and about 20 in town. its an auto and my 06 was a manual. I don't need a 6 for the power. if i needed power i would buy a full size dodge or chevy v8. I prefer the 4 over the 6. because the 4 is a world motor where the v6 is primarily for the american market. I've done 2 trips with it and it will cruise all day long at 75. 85 on our toll roads here in Texas. I only wish I could have it more plain i.e. manual roll up windows, no electric. manual door locks, i don't need cruise control or bluetooth touch screen radio all that crap like my old one had. I've seen as much as 400 thousand miles on 4 cyc tacos.

I have the so called dog..... Let's be honest it's a 2.7. 4 cylinder engine with a lot of weight. Do you really think it's going to out perform larger engines. I think not. But however the engine is rock solid and is reliable. Mine to this day runs great. I also added LCE headers which helped it out a lot. I'm really happy with how's it's doing. If your looking for a power horse this is not it but it does pull it's own weight on and off road.

Enlighten us please? As the owner of a '14, DC, PreRunner, 2.7 I fail to see what the different story means? Mine is great on fuel, is more than adequate power wise. I love the truck, so count me as confused by this statement.

All I gotta say is I just bought mine this past monday, and I am thoroughly impressed with this truck, I LOVE IT, I actually traded a 2013 Jeep wrangler unlimited 3.6L V6 for this 2.7L, yea I knew I was going to loose power, but I wanted better Gas mileage without going to a boring car, it has everything I need and then some, I used to own a TRD 4x4 tacoma 2010, but unfortunately I had to give that up due to some financial issues then, however I am very happy to be in a tacoma again and I plan on driving this truck until the freaking wheels fall off. Last thing, I was very hesitate on buying this truck over a v6, but I am very happy I bought it, it's not a dog like some will say by any means. If your looking to buy this truck, do yourself a favor and go for it! You be glad you did!

I just hit the 10,000 mile mark on my 14 DC 2.7 PreRunner and I have nothing bad to say about it. It definitely isn't going to win any races but it gets me where I need to go just fine. The 2.7 is proven and bullet proof. I have no trouble maintaining 70mph going up hills. Just slap that gear shifter over to the 3 and she will climb it no problem.

That's a nice looking truck, love the color, and the wheels, what wheels are those and size?

Thanks man. Don't see to many of them this color out on the road. The wheels are MB TKOs. Size 16x8.5 with bolt pattern 6-139.7 and an offset of -6. I think the wheels definitely make the truck look more aggressive. I added a photo looking down the side of the truck so you can get an idea of how far they stick out.

The v6 is used all around the world not just in the US market.

Love it! Definitely makes your truck look more stout, as far as power and mpg's have you lost any compared to the stock wheels? You got me thinking to jump ship.

Correct; but the v6 is primarily for the U.S. Market. The 4 is a world motor

Power, MPGs, and ride quality have not changed a bit. Driving dynamics felt a little different at first but that might have all been in my head lol. It also for some reason feels a little bit taller. I think it hugs the corners better as well.
