I'm gettig ready to change the headlight and reflector housings on my 2002 taco. Just wondering if I'm going to have to completely remove the grill or will I be able to make the switch without taking the grill off. And also if anyone has done this and know where to get some good looking aftermarket housings for not a bad price let me know

You will have to take off the grill and there should also be a trim piece below the headlight you need to take off. You will also have to pop the corner lights out. As far as assemblies, what are you looking for? New projectors or reflectors?

Yes, you will have to remove the grill - mine below during light swap:

No big deal though. Just be careful not to break the clips on the grill; they are not very beefy.

Lots of options for lights on e-bay, but you get what you pay for. Most people on here run a bead of silicone along the seams of the new ones to seal them since some have experienced condensation on some of them.

^^^Keep in mind that for the one-piece lights shown in the link above you will have to cut your grill for them to fit.

Most of my grill clips are broken. I have 2 zip ties at the ends holding it on and they work better then the clips haha

This is weird because I see that the instructions say to do this, yet I didn't have to on mine...

Yes you do have to cut the piece on the grill only for the spyder headlights, they are a one piece design. The other brands are two piece

Yeah I have them. I got them to fit just fine without cutting. It was a tight fit but it worked. And they aren't crooked or popping out or anything. The lights even have a vertical slot for that piece to fit into. So I'm curious as to why they say to cut it. Maybe they got some complaints of people that didn't realize how to install them maybe? Idk. But I would try it before cutting.
It even helps to hold the grille in place better. For those people that have a bunch of broken clips. Although those clips are cheap and easy to replace. I still have a couple clips that won't snap in place so it helped make it more snug.
