    Hello.
my name is Jake, and I love tacomas.

I get so jealous looking at a lot of these builds. Basically bought my 2001 tacoma v6 auto trd off road 4x4 2 years ago with 113k miles.
Currently at 148k. Never had a single issue, takes me everywhere I need to go which is always fun. I take wonderful care of it (as I am sure everyone else here does too).

    Here is my problem...
I love the old body style but am kinda getting a little crowded in the smaller truck. I do a lot of highway driving as well and the 3.4 doesnt do the best on these mountain highways..
This truck has the locking rear dif, but what I would like to hear from YOU is your opinion on whether I should sell my truck for a 05-08 trd sport 4x4 with lsd..
How sure can I be that it will get me everywhere my truck has taken me so far?

    What do you think?

PS. Here is my favorite picture of my baby.

    Welcome bud
    Locker > Limited slip.
You will have payments (actually I don't know your financial situation)
Your truck (if maintained properly) will easily last you another 150k miles
IMO, if they made a smaller 2nd gen (same size as the first) that's what I would buy.. they make the current body style too big and is on par with an 80-90s full sized truck.

    Best luck bud.

if you use your locker alot the lsd wont compare. However you can always add a locker to the sport. Arb is about $1500 for the setup.

Another viable option, I love my ARB.. flip 2 switches and go.

Another viable option, get a TRD Off-Road with a factory rear locker instead of a TRD Sport with a factory fake-ass hood scoop. There's not much price difference between the two, especially if you're shopping for a used truck.

    Thanks for the advice all.

And I would love to buy a trd off road.. but as we all know, they are near impossible to find at a good price. My financial situation at this point has allowed me to buy a truck around 18k.. unfortunately, I have not found a trd OR that hasnt been beat to poop anywhere near that price. The other problem is that where I am getting a loan from means the truck has to be registered in AZ. Which limits my options greatly.

As for the "fake ass hood scoop" haha.. I dont care for it much either. I am all about things on the vehicle that BENEFIT the truck. But the 4x4 is a must.. I dont often find myself forced to use the locker but i would hate to need it and not have it :/
