Just wandering what some of you guys would do. Went to the tire shop to throw on a set of 285/70-17s, i have plenty of clearance at about 3.5 inches of lift, caster at about 3.2. EXCEPT! Problem is i have a set of SpiderTrax on and i have after market rims. I love the look of the stance with the spacers but with the combined offset of the rims and with spacers the tire hits the cab mount pretty bad. The tires would clear without the spacers, and they would also clear with a CMC. What would you guys that have experience with this do? Ditch the spacers or CMC? Im not interested in changing wheels. Hell my 265s even touch the cab mount (barely) because of the combined offset.

Thanks for any insight, just cant make up my mind. Do you prefer the wider stance with spacers or would you prefer less strain on the truck and not doing a CMC with out the spacers??:notsure:

I'd say ditch the spacers. You can always put them back on and do the CMC later but at least see how you like the stance before you start chopping on your truck. Just my 2 cents. Btw i'm running 285/75/16 with procomp 7089's with 4.5" back spacing and I only rub the mud flaps a little. Only 2.5" of lift though. Look through my build and you can get an idea of the stance you would have without the spacers.

285/75/16 here with no spacers and a CMC.

As stated above, I would ditch the spacers and do a CMC. Spacers, aside from aesthetics, do more harm than good. Just my .02.

I was in the same boat 265's just touched when turning and backing up. Went to 285's and I ditched the spacers and still had to do a cmc. My wheels only have a 4 inch backspace though so it could be different depending on what you have.

Pretty sure mine are 4.5 bs with 0 os. Yeah i may have to do the same, even with as much lift as i have in the front they are still going to be real tight. May go ahead and ditch the spacers get them all mounted up then go from there. Should be able to get by until i decide what i want to do about the cmc. It is no longer my daily driver, its slowly but surely becoming a weekend play toy.

Ditched the spacers, they have plenty of clearance now. Might barely hit if it was flexed hard. I'm happy with them though. Thank you guys for the opinions.

What size spacers were you running with the 285s? Im getting the same wheel and tire size combo for my 2014 reg. cab and was going to run it with 1.25 bora spacers but if i have to chop the mount due to rubbing im gonna have to cancel. I know bora makes a 1.00" and a .750" spacer so maybe i can just go a size down if that was the size you had. I really like the wide stance but dont want to chop the mounts yet. Thanks!
