Hey guys, and gals, I've been looking at several options for a trailer to put behind my FJ. One thought is to use a mid size truck bed on a custom frame with a topper. If I go this route, I'd like to stick with a Tacoma bed as opposed to a Ford Ranger bed or something similar. The truck bed for any year Toyota pickup is pretty nice looking imho, so I'm not too concerned with model years, although I'd want at least a 7' bed. My question is where can I find Toyota truck beds reasonably priced? I can find Ranger and S10 beds online, but Toyota beds seem few and far between.

good beds are going to be hard to find...the rebuilders bid high for them. When I last built a pickup trailer I used the back half of a 64 Ford F100 long, wide. The whole truck with a bad motor was $300...came out nice.

Thanks for the replies guys.... Those beds really do fetch some $$.... I'm probably better off buying a whole truck and Parting it out

your going to have to head south, Toyotas rust badly in NY, it was a constant battle when I lived up there. the bed is the first to go.
but if your up for a drive there are a lot of Toyota yards in VA and NC.

I will be down near Knoxville in February. I may have to trailer back some parts for a trailer that I plan to build for trips like the one down to Knoxville. Kind of ironic if your able to follow that.. Lol

Thanks Skunkman, but I'm not sure if I'm ready to pull the trigger just yet. I'm still pricing different options and weighing the pros and cons of each. My main goal here was to find a good place to locate beds so I can more accurately price my options.

For the cost of making a Toyota bed trailer, you can buy a nice open top trailer with a proper trailer axle and brakes.
