goodyear duratrac spliting

has anyone else had this issue with there duratracs

 

Is that in one place or many? And could this be a cut from a sharp thing?

Looking at the chunk taken from the lug it looks like you ran over something sharp

 

X2, just ran over something.

 

it is just in the one spot but looking at it not a perfect straight cut

 

sharp rock could have done it, jagged bottle, metal, etc

 

I haven't noticed any splits on mine, will look harder when I get a chance. How many miles do you have on them?

Hit a metal band strap (the stuff they use on crates), took a chunk out of a lug and left a gash similar to that on BFG mud terrains once.

 

It looks like it continues inward into the center of the tire ya? The consistency of the cut, along with the chunk out of the tread block next to it suggests you hit something that sliced it. Most likely a rock with an imperfect sharp edge.

As stated the tire lug above in the picture shows missing rubber as well and then the cut in the tire below it. You ran over something, it is not a tire defect in anyway.
