I don't have a Tacoma, but lots of mirrors!
T@co_Pr3runn3r: If I ever get beyond just selling mirrors & get into more installations, I may have to hire you if you're in the southwest Michigan area, lol! If it wasn't for the fact that I work a full time job during the day, I would definitely expand the business beyond what it is now. Been selling mirrors for over 15 years now & the business just keeps growing every year. It is actually at the point where it could go to the next step, but the problem I have is that I really like my day job (manufacturing accountant), plus the insurance plan is pretty darn good too - would hate to give that up and fork over major bucks for Obamacare.

Kinda where I am with starting up something on my own - giving up the perks and the simplicity of just showing up, doing my job and get paid vs. having to piddle with state, local, federal government and everything that goes with running your own show.

If it doesnt come with it, I can sell you mine pretty cheap. It is an auto dimming, compass, with homelink. I am putting in the one with the backup camera screen built in so, I will be selling my old mirror. I bought the mirror brand new back in 2012, it is 3 wires (12v, 12v inginition, and a ground).f4f4ab5171fb82d2697dcb68f318a79e_f8da2a44788b377cc133cf515ab2fd928a0de622.jpg

Well.... first travel with my 2014 today, my Entune temperature readout totally let me down, what a P.O.S! I saw a temp from 60 miles away that said "as of 70 minutes ago". Once I turned the truck off and restarted, the display was blank. If HD is out of range, the temp is unavailable.

I saw mention somewhere that the digital signal needed for the mirror may be on a wire behind the glovebox. If I can't add a sensor, can I pick up the digital signal somewhere?

I also expected it to be included on my 2014 trd tacoma but was not. I have emailed toyota twice but no response. I didn't contact my salesman at McCarthy Toyota in Sedalia Mo because he was put off with me when I called him out when he delivered my new vehicle with 807 miles on it. He blamed it on the transferring dealer not telling him. I told him I didn't care what they didn't tell him but more concerned that by e didn't tell me. I've been in for two oil changes and he won't speak to me. Last vehicle I buy from him. As matter of t b e last time I mm was in he walked right by me without speaking.

I did have an auto dimming mirror with temperature, compass and homelink installed. Great add on but should it have come with the truck.

That many miles would be considered a used truck in my mind....did they discount it as such?

Buncha test drive miles and/or somebody working at dealership driving it home and back to work. Test drive miles are just as bad as rent car miles IMO. A free upgrade on warranty would have been nice gesture by dealership. It would show they cared about future business. It's short bus funny how most dealerships treat you like you'll never need another vehicle and they'll never see you again but vehicles are not made to last and their shortsighted lackluster treatment after the sale does not inspire anyone to be a returning customer. I know there are exceptions but they are so few and farther between than should be.

That happens to me too - irritating. When I called the 800 number for Toyota Support I was told that the Weather App is really for metropolitan areas... So not only did they remove a feature that SHOULD be standard (mirror, etc.) but they "upgraded" to a "feature" that only some can use. (?!??) Call Toyota Support! (800-331-4331)

I installed my new Gentex Rearview Mirror I purchased from Bob. It has autodim, homelink, compass and temperature. I highly recommend buying from Bob as he is the guru and his kit has everything you need for a professional looking installation.

I also want to say that Bob's customer service is outstanding. After I hooked up the mirror I could not get the homelink to work. I reached out to Bpb and he got back with me right away. The sad part is I wasted his time as the issue turned out to be a blown fuse. I feel like such a moron that I did not check that. It threw me off as everything else worked on the mirror except the homelink. Lesson learned for me.

I used this tutorial and it is awesome. Not sure who posted it but I would like to thank them for doing so.

I just wanted to add my complements to Bob's Automotive Mirrors. I installed a new Gentex 50-GENK20A auto dimming / compass / temp mirror that I purchased from Bob. His customer service is top notch. His prices are good, his communication is excellent. Very nice product. Installation is relatively easy.

I just installed one of Bob's mirrors on my 2014 Tacoma Homelink, auto dimming and compass. It was so easy even I could do it so that tells you it is easy. Anyway the problem I have is the wire cover from the mirror to the headliner is to long. It is adjustable but even in its shortest config. it is to long. Anyone else had this an how did you fix it? Did you have to cut it to get it to fit?

yes you'll have to cut it.. i used a hacksaw and some fine sandpaper to take the edges out.

I just tucked mine under the headliner indentation already there for this wire cover piece on my 2014 TRD. Been in over a year and no issues....don't even notice it.

Disclaimer: Unless, these newer wire covers are bigger & longer than what I received with my mirror last year.

Finally got around to starting to install my new Gentex mirror with auto dim, outside temp. and compass today that I got from Bob. I've got the new mirror up and the wires connect the the plug overhead. Temporarily connected the wires to the temp. sensor and everything is good so far. It's been a super easy install so far. Question: does everyone put the sensor up front in front of the radiator? Seems like that would be too close to a heat source. Any advice?
