Go into a gun sales store and talk to them. They should* be up on the laws.

*this does not mean they actually will know how anything new works

Warning: I've seen some of the WORST understanding of gun laws occur at LGS. The problem is generally ego. Most that run or work at those places think they're god's gift and once they get an idea in their head it's the only way something is.

I had a shop tell me that they won't do NFA transfers and I as a normal citizen shouldn't get any NFA items because it meant the ATF could come into my house at any time w/o warrant to search my residence for anything. Dafuq? I said: Oh? And he said: Yeah, they can do that to use too if we want to do NFA transfers. I just about faced and walked out but being able to do NFA transfers doesn't affect either an FFL or a regular citizen in any way as far as audits & such. If you're an FFL your address can be audited for paperwork and firearms. Doesn't change if you are capable of NFA items. Same goes to being a non-FFL citizen. Doesn't matter if you have firearms or NFA items a warrant issued on PC is still required to come into your home. Some people....

So best bet is to research online. There are plenty of reputable sites and forums with reputable members who know what they're talking about locally if you weed through the BS. Firearms laws are intentionally convoluted.

+1 on most people not knowing anything..here in georgia you need a weaposn license to carry a knife over 5 inches(nothing is needed for a knife less than 5 inches) and the lady at walmart got smart with me when i mentioned to a guy looking at a knife he needed a license to carry it. she swore up and down i was wrong. i gave the guy a website with a link to the laws so he could find out for himself ;)

You're right; as well as the other guy. I did more reading and found out I was wrong. That's right, I'm admitting on the Internet that I was wrong. The ruling was stayed for 180 days though so it won't go into effect until early next year.

I am beginning to think I should have an actual holster for my pistols when I carry them rather than putting them in cargo pockets. I am not looking for concealed, and thinking OWB. Both pistols are full size (Walther PPQ and S&W MP9) and very close in actual size. Any suggestions as to brands I should look into or avoid? In first glancing at holsters, I saw some with the paddle that goes inside the waistband with the holster out, and the paddle looked awkward to me. Any thoughts on that style?

    Thanks

I have this one for my 5906:
    http://www.amazon.com/Bianchi-Black-Widow-Hip-Holster/dp/B0019OOR8M/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1409103028&sr=8-6&keywords=5906+holster

I occasionally carry my 5906, and this holster with a good belt does a good job of holding it in place without flopping around. It's a nice high ride so it's not visible sticking out from under my coat when I opt to carry it, and the leather broke in nicely and is holding its shape quite well. If I remember I'll try and get some photos of it. Not sure if they make one to fit your models or not, but...

Many of the Safariland holsters are convertable. Remove 2 screws and you can swap the paddle to a belt loop. I actually took mine and added Safarilands quick disconnect system. Now I can easily swap out holsters when I'm out in the desert shooting.

    How about an aliengear holster?
    http://aliengearholsters.com/

I have one for my SIG 220 in .45 and it's by far my favorite method for concealed carry

*I have the IWB one though don't know about the OWB

We know. This section is for firearm discussion, not pedo talk. I hated thar show & everything that waste of oxygen represented from the beginning & this latest 'news' is just yet another feather he's given anti-2A people to put in their cap. I knew that guy was a weirdo from the jump & warned people about aligning themselves w/him just because he supported the same cause. Not even I saw this coming though. One step forward & two back for 2A. Thanks Red Jacket!

    Game changa!

Die in a fire asshole.

i saw the news about the initial arrest and how they said it was a BS story made up by an ex-gf or something. looks a lot worse now w/ a second arrest after being out on bail.
