If you're coming to Socal to stay in the mountains, you might as well not come down at all! The desert is what socal wheeling is all about. I can promise you, there is MUCH fun to be had in Ocotillo Wells with a 4x4.

I drive up to the Sierras when I want mountain wheeling, so come down at let's hit the DEZZZZZ BROOO.

Octillo sounds good to me. Realistically after driving most of the day Friday to get there, I know I'll be pretty beat. I'm probablybegetting a room then hooking up with everyone Saturday morning , wheel all day and maybe some night stuff, so I can try out my rigids and light force lights.

I don't think I'll make it up there to Gorman if you change it. I haven't done much driving up there, but I think the sierras up near Tahoe are probably prettier driving than the san bernardinos north of LA. They're at least similar.
My parents and I will head out to Anza regardless of if you make it down or not. If you guys don't go to Ocotillo we'll probably just do our own trip.
Also, my parents would probably just be out there for saturday and maybe sunday, but not friday night. I'll be out all three days, though!

I'm planning to be out there Friday night for an epic night run for my birthday, then checking in Saturday morning at Ironwoods, then leave Sunday morning.

We can do a SEPARATE Hungry Valley Wheeling trip some other time...It's not going anywhere. Ocotillo is legit...Still pretty hot out there during the day time though. Like super hot haha. Hope you dudes realize it's about 110 during the day out there and low 80s at night time.

Yeah it's hot. Like really hot. So if your AC doesn't work, I'd suggest not going.

But I'll lead you guys through Fish Creek Wash during the heat of the day, into Sandstone Canyon. High canyon walls and narrow passes make for awesome shade for lunch and an afternoon nap.

Ocotillo is very fun. Usually do Thanksgiving out there with the family. Don't think I'll make it all the way out there since I'll only be available for a day trip. But if anyone does feel like hitting up Gorman/ hungry valley for the day either saturday or sunday, I got two other buddies that would tag along. I still may consider Ocotilllo if no one wants to do gorman, but no way in hell my buddies are gonna drive all the way out there for a day of wheeling

Just a heads up for you guys , All thru fishcreek/sandstone/split mountain & especially this time of year.. there are bees , swarms at times & these are not the docile european honey bees THEY ARE AFRICANIZED hybrids with alot of piss & vineagar left over from their roots... & not trying to scare anyone off its just something to remember & if for any reason you guys are stopped in the canyon for lunch/hiking /whatever & you hear a swarm coming (& believe me you'll hear them) run , do not walk to your vehicles , I'm serious about this, Me & my GF encountered 2 seperate swarms not far from the mudcaves , about this time of year 2 years ago.... & have spoke to a few others that have seen/heard them as well...

Alright fellas ocotillo is 10 hours away from us norcal guys. If we go its gonna be 100 plus degrees and keep in mind there's no gas stations around so we would have to take extra gas tanks as well and again its a really far drive. Im thinking we should plan for a more better prepared trip when it is not so hot. Most of the norcal guys are 4x4s and 2 prerunners. So I suggest we wheel gorman (hungry valley) which is only 200 miles away from us norc drives with a way shorter drive!! They have fun 4x4 trails for you 4x4 guys and a few spots for us prerunner dudes. 4x4 guys will have a blast there!! Scotty you and I will still be able to hit some fast trails there for our prerunners!!!
