So I just made the jump that I had been debating - rather than upgrade suspension and tires on my 5 lug, I took the $3000 depreciation hit and traded it in. AND I COULDN'T BE HAPPIER :):):):):) I'm now like a kid at christmas, the new truck kicks ass.

Nice color choice! As long as you're happy, that's all that matters on the $3k hit!

Thanks! SO WORTH IT!!!!! I was really unsure of whether to do it before, because financially it's stupid, but I don't care - I only live once, I can afford it, and I'm still single - gotta get what I want while I can!

I drove all highway yesterday and got 19mpg, but it's the first tank and I drove 80 to 90mph, so I expect it to improve; I have to let it break in. I suspect I'll get ~ 20 in mixed driving, maybe more on the highway once I remove the secondary air filter, trim the mudflaps, and put on my Undercover from the old one.

I personally think a truck should be 4wd, and I was kicking myself for not getting 4wd to begin with, so I wouldn't go prerunner, but that's just me.

Now I need to start saving up for some mods. :) :)

If you don't need 4WD then it's cool. My pops doesn't have or need 4WD cause his driving is all in the city, and if they do decide to take the truck out of the city, it's only when they know the roads will be kosher.

Otherwise they kick it in the AWD Murano.

Nice color choice is right! That truck'll look sick once you get some black mods going :D Congrats - and I know about taking a hit...
4 years ago I bought a new jetta tdi wagon - had it for 3 mos and traded it in for a Honda Pilot - took a 5k hit on that one, but the jetta was just too small; I traded the Pilot 2 years ago for an MDX and took another 5k hit (alongside regular depreciation) but I wanted an MDX and, after owning it for 2 years, am still lovin' it. That, by the way, is the longest I've owned a vehicle! It's a total hate-love relationship, but I didn't get what I wanted in the first place and then paid thru the nose later.

..I've been wanting a Tacoma for a few years and went thru a Dodge Ram, then a bimmer and a Camry before finally getting the Taco and I, again, could not be happier!

Awesome truck. I also went from a 2wd to my 4wd Tacoma. But the 2wd was a Ford. I know exactly how you feel though, the 4wd is awesome! I had to really try it out yesterday in the woods. I was having too much fun to even take some photos. It also helped this past winter in the snow. :)

wait - call me dumb - but i noticed no bed side stickers saying TRD or anything.. Did you take those off, or can you get 4x4 on just the prerunner WITHOUT TRD packages..? I thought you had to have TRD to do 4x4

Also.. Prerunner = 2wd only. It has the 4x4 suspension, but it's 2wd.
There are 4x4 5 lug's too... TRD just adds in the extra stuff like blisten shocks, bed outlet, sport has the hood scoop and matched body pieces ect....
