I need to move the small, finned, rectangular aluminum component between the battery and driver side headlight but I don't know what it is. I searched a few threads with diagrams but came up empty. I was thinking it was possibly a thermometer but would like to be sure before I remount it in a bad spot.

It appears to be a heat sink for an electrical or electronic component.

from what i know by experience, it is the "speaker" for the lock/unlock chirp. how i know it is, because when i was washing my battery off from it corroding the tie down i soaked that little component and the "chirp" was so quiet until it completely dried out..

hope that helps... thats about all i know about it though

I don't think that is a speaker haha. My truck doesn't chirp but that sink is still there

Out of curiosity, why would you need to move that for an OBA?

My guess would be to install a small PVC air-tank.

Thanks for all the replies... Tan4x4, not planning on putting an air tank there, my tank is back behind the spare and it was a pain in the A**. Just got it mounted a couple hours ago and plan on getting the compressor mounted after my boy goes to bed.

What I was thinking, was to tuck the compressor in that spot. It was pretty tight, but it would fit (Viair 450C), just barely. Instead, I have decided to bend a piece of 1/4 inch plate and mount it inside the frame rail, between the rail and exhaust pipe. It should be pretty safe as long as I don't come down on anything too hard.

I'll snap some pics and post them up after I get it finished.
