ESPN article on the Nationwide race tonight referring to Harvick "dominating" and "smashing" the competition. That's like Mike Trout dropping down to triple A ball, hitting a couple homers then bragging like he did something special. Dominating a race with a lot of underfunded teams who need the prize money more than Harvick or Logano or Kyle Busch does isn't something to brag about. This is my biggest pet peeve with NASCAR. Get the Sprint Cup guys who race the NNS every weekend out of there. Either you race Sprint Cup or you race Nationwide, not both.

Agreed. Nationwide should be free of the "Pro" drivers from the sprint cup level.

Cup drivers in nationwide is nothing new, been going on for a lot of years, there is now becoming a huge gap between the top tier teams and the lower funded teams which is why cup drivers are winning so much now. Also, sponsors now a days only want top tier drivers and they want results so bringing the "stars" down is most likely a part of the sponsor contract with that team. Another benefit is that the young drivers get to race with these cup drivers and gain a lot of experience that will prepare them for a cup future, and will create better future racing in cup.

I haven't heard a young driver complaining about cup drivers in the field.

Again though, the largest discrepancy Is team funding, the most funded teams perform better regardless if it was a cup driver driving or not. If the gap is closed there you'll see more competition.

With that said, I don't like cup drivers in nationwide either, I realize teams need money, but there should be at the very least a certain number of races a cup driver can drive in nationwide per year.

The ones to watch tonight who need a win to get in are Mcmurray, kahne, Larson and stewart.

Bubble drivers are Kenseth, Newman, and bowyer, and the biff (biffle has a 26 pt edge on Larson).

Crunch time, should be a good one tonight, Atlanta has one of the oldest track surfaces so tire wear is huge, everyone is taking 4 tires during pitstops so you won't see much strategy, best cars will be in the front.

I can see where you're coming from. But that kind of thought process only exists for NASCAR. Lebron James doesn't drop down to a d league cav's affiliate to bring some fans to the stands and get the rookies some valuable time on the court. Also, my local single A affiliate to the Pirates doesn't have Andrew McCutcheon come in for weekend series to help the young guys out and sell tickets.

The only benefit Kyle, Logano, BK, Harvick get is an advantage of knowing the tracks and setups the next day at the Sprint Cup race. I can't see any direct correlation between running in the Nationwide series and wins for those guys though.

Last night Chase Elliott wouldve likely of won that race, I would much rather of seen him win than any of those other guys including Larson. I will say this, I think if you're a rookie in the Sprint Cup series, you should be alotted a total of maybe 46 races in a season. 36 Cup and then 10 Nationwide. After your rookies season, maybe drop it down to 5 or something like that.

You're forgetting one thing nascar is dependent on over all other sports to survive, that's sponsors, and if sponsors say they want "insert cup driver here" to race nationwide X amount of races, then that's what will happen. You can't compare nascar to football, baseball, or any other sport.

WatchESPN to stream online, if you have sprint service then race view is free! I usually just sit and listen to in car on my phone during the race through sprint, it's sweet.

Yet NASCAR's new Chase format reminds me of a round of 16 tournament from NCAA basketball. But yes, I agree NASCAR isn't like other sports. I wonder what a Sprint Cup sponsor would say if one of these high profile drivers was hurt in a Nationwide wreck? Tony breaking his leg doesn't count because he's partial owner of his team anyways.

My provider isn't listed for WatchESPN for me to sign on. and I don't have Sprint :(

Finally found a sketchy site that is streaming it. And yes, Tony looks like he found an extra gear off the bat!
