Someone changed the belts a few months back :anonymous: and when I removed the factory skids today and found the A/C pulley lying on it, with the nut missing.

Not my truck but the nut circled in red is missing so it's just the stud sticking out. The adjustment bolt in blue is loose too but I think thats because the pulley is gone...

Basically can I just get a new grade 8 14mm nut and stick it all back together? Nylock thread so it doesn't happen again? Or am I missing something? I'm driving 800 miles tomorrow so I'd like to fix it asap haha.

    Thanks

I think a nylock nut in that size would be hard to locate, and there might not be enuf thread exposed for the nylon part to engage.

If you can't find an appropriate regular metric nut, then just remove the belt and run without A/C.

How thick is the nut? Standard nyloks according to Fastenal's catalog are 14 mm thick. If that's too thick, then use a standard nut, apply some Loctite or equivalent threadlocking fluid, and torque to spec. (29 ft-lb for the idle pulley, 9 ft-lb for the actual compressor pulley)

Are all the washers where they should be and facing the correct way?
