Very jealous, both my multirotors are in pieces right now. I just can't stop tinkering and "improving" my design. It's raining here anyway so I guess it doesn't matter. I'm hoping Thursday I should have both built and ready to fly.

Maiden flight last night ... kinda, lol. Forgot I have not soldered the ESCs to the motors since I didn't know what rotation they were so I figure I can just take off a couple of feet and bring it back, nope. Lift off and flip over lol, have to do some soldering tonight

Those little X4s are so much fun. I have crashed mine into so many walls and trees and it just keeps going.

I found "expert" mode on the x4 last night. So much more fun! that thing zips around pretty quick! Its also very hard to tell its orientation since its so small

I have no experience with quad copters but this thread (and my friends buying $$$ drones) has inspired me to start playing with the Syma x1 I bough my 6yr old son for his last birthday. I had to sneak it out of the house to be able to play with it with out "daddy, daddy, daddy let me try! daddy let me try! daddy let me try!, daddy I want to do it" but I did manage go thru 4 batteries yesterday before he got home and then I helped him fly it a couple times in the evening. I'm looking to order another from Amazon, can't decide between another Syma x1, Hubsan x4. Any other suggestions for a beginner? It's a lot of fun but I really cannot afford another expensive hobby, I would like to get something for $50 or less and be able to buy extra batteries but definitely nothing over $100 until I get better at flying them.

I am in the same boat. I am really interested in learning to play with a quad copter, but have no idea where to start without wasting my money. I want a rig that will set me back no more than $150, but will be easy for a beginner to start on without destroying it on the maiden voyage!

I'm guessing it pours more amperage in to the motors to make them zippier
It's addicting! The husban and a few micro copters (200MM frame) are within a couple hundred bucks. Where the money goes to it batteries, different motors and props, new esc's, and getting in to gimbals (some gimbal mounts are well over $3k)
    Here is a good article:
    http://bestquadcopter.com/best-mini-quadcopter-beginners/

My only deal with the smaller drones is when you are flying aggressively or kind of far away (100' or so) it's hard to tell orientation and might get away from you

I do like that a lot, I just want to gain some knowledge and experience before I spend more than $50 on one. I know myself well, No matter what I get I will want a better one in no time, there for I am starting at the bottom lol.
