    On Tornadoes:
    1. While Tulsa area certainly can be subject to tornadoes, the massive monster killer ones tend to be west in the OKC/Moore area.
    2. Respect them, dont fear them. Fear doesn;t allow you to think when you need to think.
    3. Have a place to go. Underground shelter is absolute--can be put into a slab garage floor for $2500. But a sturdy central room will protect you from 98% of tornadoes. Key is to know ahead of time and have a plan.
    4. Get away early if you want to run. If you hesitate, better to ride it out where you are. Cars are a bad place to be--tornadoes send them air born or you drown in flash flood.
    5. Get the ap--plenty of aps for warning on smart phones, computers or whatever.
    6. Pay attention--the news media compete with their weather coverage. Radar and warning is the best in the nation. 99% of the tornodoes come with warning--if you are paying attention.
    7. Remind yourself--more people die of bee stings in Oklahoma than die in tornadoes--they are relatively infrequent and only a miniscule number create fatalities. The area damaged is also quite small and usually very minor.
    8. Get a garage/shelter for your truck. Hail is much more frequent and can screw up a vehicle.

Good deal. Does anyone have advice on what areas to look at living in for good school districts?

All of this. They are great with the tornado and hail predictions out here but it seems like they can't narrow down a rain storm to save their life lol.

Jenks, Union, Broken Arrow and Bixby have pretty good school systems. There are quite a few private/christian schools here as well that are pretty good although smaller such as Lincoln Christian. I lived in Broken Arrow 14 years and Tulsa 15 years

I am in South Tulsa (nicer part of Tulsa-Jenks schools). Glenpool is a growing suburb, Owasso north of Tulsa is nice and good schools as well.

Let me know if you want some help, my wife is a Realtor and can set you up on a search if you let her know criteria such as sq. ft., price range, # bedrooms, garage size etc.

P.M. me if you like for help!

Good Luck on your new job. You will LOVE Tulsa! Nice town with freindly folks.

Yeah I'm looking for that "right one", although I did see it there I think it was a few grand overpriced considering what I paid for my 08.

What brings you to Yukon? I moved there when I was young, went to college, then came back. Recently moved away again, but it's a great town.

Got tired of California and my fiancé wanted to be closer to his family that lives in tenessee, and his brother lives out here in yukon. I'm planning on going to school here in Oklahoma for dental hygiene... Love it out here so far but miss my family and friends in California... I don't know anyone out here in Oklahoma.
