Another Deal or No Deal Thread

I've seen quite a few threads like the one I'm about to post but I'm about to buy a new Taco and I really want to get your guys input. I have been working with the local internet managers and so far I'm looking a new 08 Taco 4x2 Prerunner, silver with Sport package, Towing package, and mats for $23,128 after rebates with all dealer fees, or so I'm told. This does not include TT&L. Edumunds list MSRP at $27.095 and invoice at $24,220. I still have a week or two before I really have to decide so I ask you guys, Deal or No Deal?

Wow RememberMorrison, if that's a double cab with tt&l, sounds like you did better then I'm looking at right now. I might need to keep trying to get a better deal.

Make sure to check out financing rates, I got mine at 1.9% for 48months, we had the option of $1000 or 1.9%....do the math, sometimes the rate works better and sometime the rebate works better depending on your down payment. I have a 08 dark blue prerunner sport TuRD towing package dbl cab.... I would have got the 4x4 if I did it over again though.... never know when your gunna see a mud puddle that need's thrashin!!! Good luck on you buy and welcome

Take that price to another dealer & see if they can beat it. If they can't, then pull the trigger.
I paid $23,000 for my 2005 incl the fees, with a tow bar, & fiberglass bed cover. But this was also 2005.

So the consensus seems to be that it's not a bad price. I am still waiting to see if another dealer is willing to beat the price I have now so I might even do a little better. Is there anybody here that has dealt with the Toyota service departments around the Baton Rouge or New Orleans La area? I've been told that you get better service if you have bought the truck at the place you get it serviced and I don't want to get the truck at a place that is known for a crappy service department. Is there any truth to this? Thanks for all the comments so far guys.

I have not found that to be true. I have had my truck serviced at four different dealers, that I didn't buy the truck from. I now take it to one that has lower prices & great service.

Good luck!

Thanks Sean. This is my first new car purchase so I'm taking it slow and am trying to get lots of feedback. I may be buying the truck as far away as 3 hours from where I live so I also don't want to have to drive that far to get service done on my truck. It's comforting to know that I 'should' get the same service from all of the Toyota dealers. Have you had to get any TSB work done at a dealer you didn't buy the truck from?

I would just concentrate on getting the best deal. Toyota's service depts aren't going to treat you bad. Toyota is big on sending out surveys to those of us that have our vehicles serviced at a dealer. Dealers do not want negative feedback. Even some dealers give you a survey everytime you have it serviced. This is so the service manager can get an idea how they are doing, before any problems arise.

Well, I had another dealer contact me today with a price including all dealer fees at $22,831,03(plus tax, title and license fees) . They just need to make sure they can acquire the truck from another dealership first. I'm hoping they can. I have also used this price as a negotiation point with another dealer in case this one doesn't work out. I'll keep you guys posted, wish me luck! I can't wait to get my new Taco!

Your taco will hold its value. My 2005 with 84,000 miles is worth almost what I paid for it. It is an awesome truck, but I didn't expect it to be worth this much. The retail value is $19,550, trade in is $16,750. I just checked it on Edmunds.com I lost $1,000 for high mileage. Very good news, but I'm not selling.

Before this Taco, I had an 03 Taco. I traded it on this truck, they gave me $2500 more than I owed. In just a year & a half of ownership.
