So all giddy about my new truck, I've been noticing countless others on the road. My truck seems to have a different "TRD-Off Road" decal on the bedsides than other 2nd gens. In fact I haven't seen one that is A) As big (which I kind of don't like) or B) Is the same font and black/ red outline.

Most have the TRD smaller, and with a smaller "Off-Road" behind it. Did the dealer get some cheap decals made at a sign shop for my truck, or did Toyota change the graphics on '14+ trucks and I just haven't seen another '14 Off Road yet?

Here's what I have for reference.

*Edit* Sorry the picture doesn't show exactly how big the decal actually is, but it looks huge and kind of ugly in person. All of the others I've seen on other trucks are at least 25% smaller and look nicer.

Heres an example of what I'm used to seeing on the road

    nothing cool
I dont know about yours exactly ( which doesnt help you). But i do know Toyota changed some of their decals. Ive see black and MGM and their decals were only gray with white accents. No red color in the graphic. But yours look like normal Toyota decals. Easy fix, take them off.

Edit: looked at some 2014s. Yours look just like them. I think youre good.

Also was there a time in the 2nd Gen series, when the Off Road had a graphic that looked like there was a Mountain design, with the TRD going through it? I swear I've seen that before on a bone stock truck, with someone driving that looked like they wouldn't have changed or personalized that.

I know, I'm thinking about it. I'm not big into having graphics or logos everywhere anyway. I don't know why but it kind of reminds me of the graphics and crap manufactures used to print all over trucks in the 80's & early 90's.

What's the best way to remove, hair dryer and pull by hand?

Glad you got the new truck. You need to change your sig profile now.

Anyhow; manufacturers are always trying to make little changes to distinguish one year from the next, and a change to the graphic on the sticker is as easy as it gets.

As cmurder sez above - don't like it? just remove it.

Yep. Get it hot but not too hot. Then goo-gone on the residue. Then wash and wax.

While you're at it - you can debadge the tailgate. heat it up and use fishing line between the paint and the decal.

Then goo gone, wash, wax same as the decals.

Thats normal, a few of the trucks around here have that same decal. Depends on the color of the truck too.

The oem mountains decal were the rugged trail model Toyota did for awhile.
SockMonkey did custom mountain TRD & SR5s decals that were sharp.

Weird. Mine looks just like yours size wise, but has "Toyota Racing Development" in small letters underneath it.

That's why I thought perhaps mine were damaged on the lot, and the dealer went and had some cheap ones made or printed. All the ones I've seen on the road say "Toyota Racing Development" over or under it.

I wonder if that would blend in or still show against sky silver metallic? I don't care for the black with red accent. Dare I say, looks kind of "Boy Racer" like to me.

FWIW, I just debadged my tailgate over the weekend. With the new Leer shell I put on, the back of my truck was logo overload (LEER, Toyota, Tacoma, Prerunner, V6). Now it looks way better and pretty slick. The description provided above is what I did. Hairdryer, fishing line, goo-gone. Worked like a charm

Awhile? Sadly it was only one year, 2008. I wanted one so bad, and finally gave up the search. I just liked the black fenders. I ended up with a newer base model instead.
