so that damn speed wobble crap is back. going to attempt to pull the cv axle and replace the axle bushing with the one from east coast gear supply on Saturday. Wish I could have done it this week since I'm off work, but everyday has some new activity come up since the mother in law is here. Went to prague yesterday, took the rental car back and showed her around the base today, taking the mother in laws sister to the train station tomorrow, then friday the mother in law leaves so have to drive her to the airport. hopefully it doesn't take long since the garage is $5 an hour to use and I would like to be home in time to watch some college football.

What kinda "speed wobble" do you have... I'm racking my brain tryin to think of how a cv axle would affect somethin like that

    it's this crap: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2n...nt-differential-bearing-vibration-thread.html

so you have to pull the cv axle to get to the needle bearing and replace it with a solid bushing from ECGS. because the needle bearing is apparently to big and allows the cv axle to "bounce" around inside it creating the wobbling effect. so the new busing is smaller and keeps the cv axle in place "to help control vibrations and shaft float". it started after I put the lift on. Idk if you remember, but I posted about it awhile ago. It happens in 2wd at 45mph+, but once you put it in 4wd it goes away. It went away once it started getting warmer and I ordered the removal tool and new bushing so I didn't bother with it at the time. Now that it has gotten colder it's back and since I'm trying to get the truck in perfect running condition before I start EOD school (since I won't have anytime to work on it except the weekends) that's next on the list. Only other thing I need to do before I ship it is change the terminal on the wire going to the negative/ground side of the battery. I tried to put a different battery in the truck and when I did it stretched the terminal out and when I put the old battery back in the terminal doesn't stay on it. I have it taped with electrical tape now, but that's starting to fail and lets it come off so sometimes the truck starts and sometimes it doesn't. Just glad that's all it is and an easy fix. Maybe install my roof rack as well if it ever comes in the mail. It shipped back in july and still hasn't showed up, damn usps.

What you go with? But I guess anything with tread on it is better than what you got now

Cory: I gotchu now, I've read about that before just completely forgot... And on the battery, if don't have time or true want to replace that terminal, put a screw in the side with the nut (between the terminal and the clamp). It's not a perfect fit but it does work really well.

Taylor: yours are already worn out???

Brandon: went with general at2's 295/75/16, buyin a set of off road wheels this weekend for em so I'll have my 17's up for sale if anyone wants em

I might try that. I thought I had another terminal, which I do it just already has wire going into it. So I can use that option or just replace the whole cable, gonna go pop the hood now and see if it will work.

thanks brandon! they should be at the walmart here by next wednesday I think (probably sooner I'm told but that was the estimate) and then I'll have 'em mounted and balanced friday right before heading to shoe...

Cory: I get that completely but hopefully this works cuz while it's a little ghetto it does work and is obviously cheap as hell, lol

what time are y'all plannin to get to shoe next weekend??? and who's planning to go at this point?

so replacing the whole cable was a no go. I unbolted the negative terminal and followed it and it just goes into some wire loom with the power cable. I just cut the cable with the new terminal on it and pulled most off it out with a pair of pliers then the rest I drilled out, cut the old terminal off the ground cable and put the new end on crimped it the best I could and electrical taped it. truck started first try and it's on tight, no play in it like the old one. I'll mark it up as a success for the time being, and the best part no "X" of electrical tape going over top the terminal being an eyesore haha.
