Hey y'all. I'm new to the Tacoma world and here and not so handy but I need some help.

What is the best automatic way to go with installing a tailgate lock? I've seen some of the manual Pop & Lock options but reviews on those seem to indicate the handle seems flimsy. Plus, it isn't a big deal but I'd like to be able to unlock by remote.

    I have a 2014 TRD Sport.

I've seen some older threads on this issue, so sorry for the repeat topic, but I wanted to make sure I ordered the right stuff and that it still applied to the 2014 models.

    Thanks!

Check my build thread...too much to list.
It doesn't replace the handle. You open up the tail gate and place the locking mechanism behind the stock handle.

I started right in at the tailgate. I would have started from the front and worked back. The reason is that they give you a lot of extra wire. I wrapped the extra around a pillar inside the tailgate. You will see what I mean, if you go this route.

Tried to get the wires in the camera loom, but got impatient. I should have taken more time for a cleaner look. I am pretty much the only one who will notice but...

    Just some suggestions:

Grab some extra zip ties. They don't really give you enough. I guess, minimally speaking, they do. But just have extras, there is nothing worse than wires flapping around under your belly.

While you are in there. Use some litho grease to lube stuff up. I did that and some Fluid Film on some areas.

Not speaking from experience, because I was warned prior to starting. Keep your keys in your pocket! hahahaha
Sounds dumb, but....it could get much dumber, if you don't. :D

I think that is about it. I am pretty sure I posted my .02 on the thread that I used as reference too.

    Hope it helps.
