Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
New pads have nothing to do w/ the width of these calipers. The outside are cast and bolted together and do not move. The pistons inside the cast parts push the pads to the rotors. The outsides are stationary. I had maybe an 1/8" from my wheel to the calipers. Didn't change after changing the front pads.

I have the EBC stage 4 brakes (rotors/pads) comin in this week plus i picked up the 16'' beadlock TRD wheels 7.5in width w/10mm offset (black! score) that i really liked.

I have no indications that this is a problem at all but i might be wrong too. I also am waiting on my ICON suspension to come... and noticed that the tubular UCA mentions 17'' wheels or larger so im waiting on a response from them on this concern...

all new to me if there is a problem (kept my 2012 stock till now)

The toyota 16" wheels will fit. It's other brand wheels you have to be careful with. Some fit, many don't. The calipers hit the inside of the wheels.

4wheel parts told me the same thing.. that 05+and up .no one makes a 16" rim that fits.. obviously they were wrong. Also got a speach about how he had been working there for.over 15 years and knows what hes talking bout. -fail-

I'm inclined to bump this thread too because I have a 2018 TRD off road and I bought a set of 16" Ion Alloy wheels that can't even be put on the threads because the inside face of the wheel hits the calipers.

Frankly, there is no where else on the internet that I have found with exhaustive searching that even comes close to this thread in terms of information on 16" wheel fitment. I don't know how this isn't a bigger and more widely discussed issue!

Why do some trims fit 16" aftermarket wheels while others don't? One post mentioned that TRD has different brakes? What does that mean? How are they different? How can the problem be solved? What wheels will fit the TRD models? There's no definitive answers anywhere!

And toyota's OEM parts sites say nothing about the different measurements of the brake calipers, brake rotors, hub assemblies (which I have deduced might be part of the wheel fitment issue), or even hub bolt lengths haha. There's gotta be something!
