That makes sense. I ask because of a thread here on TW addressing the issue of crushed bedsides from excess weight. While i have a hard time seeing how a couple hundred pounds would be an issue, i just wanted to be sure as i am planning to pick one of these up.

What would you guess consider as one of the best RTT you can buy? I know of CVT, ARB, TJM idk who else makes RTT's. I am in the market for one and with so many models I am kind of lost as to who makes the better tents and which ones are more reliable. I live in Alaska and this tent would be used in the winter as well so it would have to be able to handle some snow load.

All made in same factories from what I have been told. In a group buy now where we are getting a tent that is the same as the Tepui and CVT.

Camped in Yellowstone last night. Was cruising through camp looking for a site and spotted a CVT on a trailer
    [IMG]
Never did see who/what it belonged to.
Then I got up this morning and realized that there was a Tepui just a few spots up the road from me

Trailer "restoration" is nearing completion. Next is to build the lid and then it will be set to mount the tent. I won't be building a rack or slider steps this fall, that will be a next summer or winter break project lol. So stoked!

I already talked about this but I'll try asking again.

Anyone have issues with the tent getting wet while driving in the rain? Went to air out the tent today and half the mattress was pretty wet. I can't figure out what's going on here. The hinge is the only place I can see it coming through, but the cover does a pretty damn good job of covering it up. Both leading corners are wet but i think it's all coming from the hinged side and moving across the other corner.

do the edges of the travel cover hang down past the bottom edge of the tent when you have it all closed up? If the fabric parts of the zipper are even a little exposed and get wet it would be really easy for the moisture to wick into the rest of the tent. when you cinch down the two straps over the top of the tent do you make sure that the edges aren't turned up?
i know one other person complained about the tent getting wet inside and it turned out that he had the wrong cover - it was so tight that the very edge of the zippers were exposed and it was enough to let moisture in. post a few pics if you could...

    This was exactly my issue.

If your cover looks like this, you have the wrong one... Haha

You can see the tan fabric that the zipper is attached to, which was letting water into the tent.

This is the zipper on the cover. Cheap IMO. One tooth fell out (on the side, not front. Not where it's getting wet)

Is that the same zipper you guys have?

    null_zpsf2a77cd2_bbdba87268b6550916441170cb8a2cfcb54cc421.jpg

Or do you have one like the zipper of my CVT awning? MUCH higher quality YKK zipper. I have no idea why the tent cover zipper would be different and cheaper than the awning...

Well I've had my RTT for about 6 months and today I found someone has slashed the right side of it. Completely through the cover and deep into the tent. I haven't unfolded it to checkout the extent of the damage, but from the looks of it, it's going to be substantial! Damn people!
