i just watched outbreak for reality training

seriously tho, every flu season the public is told "its flue season, follow these guidelines to avoid catching or transmitting the flu"....and sure as shit every flu season doctors offices and hospitals are flooded with flu patients. so if there were any real "outbreak" of ebola the general population is screwed

and the post a few above me "shooting from the hip"...that is the perfect analogy

The older crowd here remembers when AIDS first made the news back in the 1980's and how quickly it became a world wide problem. Ebola is more contagious, easier to transmit and just as if not more deadly because it can spread and kill very quickly.

Now, we have reports of people entering the country who have been diagnosed as having Ebola. It's probably here to stay. Just like other diseases like Polio and Small Pox that were thought to be "eradicated", and parasites like bed bugs that were not a problem here until recently, once again, another disease, Ebola, has crossed our borders.

It really isn't possible to test everyone who crosses our borders for diseases or parasites, but in reality this is the only way we can keep these very things out. Oh well, I guess it's time to move to Antarctica.

    Yep!

Just think about how weak we have made the human species with all the antibiotics in our food chain giving rise to drug resistant strains of bacteria.
Think about all the babies with congenital birth defects that would have died without medical intervention. Think about all the "infertile" couples out there that can't have children without specialized procedures or fertility drugs. Humans have become very weak animals indeed. Without drugs and specialized medical care much of the world's population would die off in a few decades.

Any doomsday preppers out there?

My wife had a staph infection from going to the gym. Started as a swollen sore nose. She went to the Dr and he put her on really strong antibiotics. He said if she would have gone to the Dr any later it would have been bad.
