    I have this rifle in .308. Keep in mind that with the 1 in 12 twist you will be limited to a max of about 163 grain bullet. Not really a problem, though. I hunt with my Browning BLR in 30.06

    This is what I did with my 700. late edit: I see you went with the 30.06. Nice. Enjoy.

    The basic rifle is good. But at nearly 10 lbs before mounting optics isn't a good choice for hunting. Target shooting,yes. They make the same rifle in hunting configuration that is much lighter and about 1/3 the price. The hunting version comes with 3 round mags, but I have 5 and 10 round mags for mine as well.
