when i found a rat in my engine bay i killed that sucka with a golf club.
.. i checked for chew marks on my wires but didnt find any.
they are attracted to the wires because some contain peanut oil in the insulation.

none except for crappy hub caps and floor mats.
WTF? So there's peanut butter in the wiring? I assume that means they use peanut oil in the plastic recipe or something, but even so, that sounds nuts- no pun intended.

I think it's rats who've attacked the wires in my new Tacoma.
It happened while parked on a city street overnight.
Has anybody found any of these that keep them away; spraying wires with Rust proofing , mothballs, Critter Ridder???

    Just a few minor things.

Had squirrels in the crawl space on either side of my house. Hung two of the smaller ones (one in each crawl space), no mas squirrels. They run non-stop. No difference in power bill, replaced the bulbs once in the two-plus years since install.

    back to bone stock.
the best bait i have ever found is a smear of smashed up Snickers bar. sticky so you can ball up a tiny piece and smash it into the BOTTOM of the trigger. makes the rodent have to push his weasel face into the wedge, which triggers the trap every time.

patch up ALL the holes. or the problem will always be there.

The T-rex type traps work great, IMO better than standard wire snaps. And definitely use PEANUT BUTTER. Works great. As for engine bay rats, there are repellents you can buy but I"ve never tried them myself so I don't know if they work or not.

Found this a few days ago

    Rats_zps6ca3783b_128d90f26858c87d42e5d330bc8ed607c4dc42b5.jpg

I tied a walnut to a regular rat trap with dental floss and smothered in with peanut butter. Then put it under the truck. Problem solved.
