Is the diameter of 31.46 and width of 11.22 really an issue on these trucks with 18x8.5 rims? Is it so close that it will rub inside? The increase seems minimal.....
    Thanks

turn your 265's to full lock and see how much space you have then. Driving in a straight line with no bumps in the road, yeah sure 285's are no real problem. but go to turn sharp enough and you'll rub on something.

I heard of people using 275s....don't know if they had any issues with rubbing though.

Ran 275/70/17's on stock wheels with no lift and no cutting. They would rub off road if you wheeled the wee out of the truck. None on road.

The UCA does appear to be close to the travel path when turning so I will just settle for the width and diameter I have now I guess.
    Thanks

This can be debated for days, as the other "what size tires fit" threads testify to. I was having the same trouble: deciding between 285 and 265. since I have a DCLB, the 285 looked way better (in my opinion). I was worried about rub and cutting too. I got LR UCA's and threw them on with a Toyech 3" Ultimate Lift Kit with 285/65/16's.

At full lock there was a little bit of rub. I did a little bit of cutting. It was really no big deal at all. I used an x-acto knife to cut the plastic. I cut the weird "cone" thing that hangs down and the knife cut through it like butter. then I cut part of the fender well, maybe 2" piece. It was simple. Now no rubbing. Keep in mind I do not do hard core off roading, just fire trails/backpacking trails where non-lifts would get beat up.

    What I cut:

Thanks for the input Pig, I will not be off roading. More about the ocassional mud and snow and the look of the truck. Thought 10mm would be easy but I guess not. Had a new Taco in 95 and put big tires on it with no issues...31.5 I think....hard to recall....

Welcome. I was a little freaked about cutting plastic too. After all is said and done it was easy and no big deal at all. I am very happy I went with 285's. Gas mileage is another issue!! All in all 285's look better for me and balanced out my truck's look. Good luck!!
