2015 model here: understanding the scope of previous rust recall to be proactive.

I read quite a few threads on rusting frames. I for some reason cannot figure what the reason is( other than bare metal frame and salt). My 2015 seems to be painted from the factory, so, I believe Toyota did some correction after the recall? Anyone with older frames: did your frame come painted from factory like mine?






Can someone post the A/C line extension mod?

 

All of the frames come painted as I recall (no pun intended) but the problem has been the quality of the paint not holding up to road salt and such.

Is that a one-piece driveshaft I see?

 

They're all painted with crap paint

 

the muffler on the second picture is painted mine is just silver unpainted. that's for sure different.

 

That sure is a nice looking underbody. And your muffler is definitely painted, when did that start?

I find it interesting that your TRD Pro came with a painted muffler.

 

No, it is two piece.

 

Sorry, I forgot to mention! I painted it; I saw raw welds and connectors around the muffler. I could not stand it. It's its matter of time before it starts to bite... so I took care of it.

 

Ha, I have only had the truck for 8 days, I started painting it today.

 

Painted muffler. Interesting. I will not paint mine.

 

I sure hope they fixed the frame rot issue. Especially for us up here in Nova Scotia. Salt in the air all the time and winter our roads are pounded with salt.

 

Highly suggest regular underbody cleanings and treatments with Fluid Film or something similar.

 

Your underbody looks hella clean. Mine is totally the opposite

 

Is that ceramic paint?
