Fly fishing is the most fun. And the best thing, for me, is that the wife likes it, too. Especially when she doesn't have to wear the cold water gear.

While it's nice that the signifcant other likes it, I kinda like goin without mine. It's a nice way to get away. Lol.

One of my buddies is wanting to start a guide service. He doesn't know much about fishing, but he knows abour running businesses. So he's recruited me and one other guy (so far) to guide for him. Should be fun.

I'm with ya, D. I go it alone enough to keep my sanity. But with the wife along it's easier to justify the expense on the exotic location trips.

Pretty sure you have to have a business license similar to that of a liquor license to guide on public or state land. You generally have to buy out a shop to get that license. I could be wrong though?

Already in the works. Being taken care of by the guy opening the business. I don't think it's really all that hard here in GA.

My best Bone Fish. Andros Island, Bahamas. If you haven't fished salt water for Bone Fish, you gotta do this!

Here is my recent camp in Florida, where I fished the ‘blood moon’ for tailing redfish. During certain times of the year flood tides occur which cause the spartina flats to flood. Redfish are waiting for this to happen so that they can feast on the small crabs, hoppers and snails that elude them during most of the year. Because of the small time window when the flats are flooded, the redfish feed aggressively and tail often. This is all sight fishing and about as exciting as fly fishing gets. Sometimes I even use topwater flys, like the gurgler, to catch them.

    hellsbay,
That looks like a good time. Fat fish & a nice rig to chase them with ! Our water is getting colder up here in Mass. The fish are getting active again. Big Rainbows have come into the shallows to feed at our local lake. We are doing well with weighted Pheasant tail/ ostrich sparkle nymphs . I have been fishing my Heddon bamboo #17 & #20 six & seven weight 9ft. rods. Those Bows just don't want to come to the net ! Yah , good times.
PS. what weight rod do you use on those Reds ? 8 or 9 ?

    Hi Mike,
I use 7 and 8 wt rods on the reds. It's cooling down here and a little dryer as well. The fall bait run is beginning and the fishing will only get better.

Glad you are getting some good use out of your tube as well! My Classic Accessories tube has caught me a ton of fish this summer that I otherwise wouldn't be able to have a chance at.

I seem to have this nagging case of tennis elbow from casting massive bass flies and trying to muscle the hell out of it rather than use solid technique. I should probably take a couple weeks off to rest it but just can't stand to miss this solid fall season for bass fishing on the lake.

Been fly fishing 5 years. Trout, pike/musky, bass and planning on bonefish next year. Thankfully I live where I can fish year round and working from home lets me get out plenty. Finally bought a used tacoma to beat up on here in the valley. I'll post some of my better catches soon.
