Really worried about my tailgate getting stolen.

I already installed a Pop n Lock, but then I read that they are not all that good and even deterring casual thieves.

Bought the Jimmi Jammer for my Taco, planning on painting it black before install. Anyone else used this as well? (and yes I know there is a Wal Mart hose clamp thread here, but I am interested in this part only)

That was the first thing I installed when I got home from the dealership. Kind of pricey but I liked the design over the other options. I'll never take the tailgate off so I wasn't worried about it being easily removed. I wouldn't worry about painting it. You won't see it. My advice when installing it is to at least pull the tailgate off to remove the factory torx screw. It is in there tight and the factory paint kind of locks it down. You'll need to get some leverage to bust it loose. Then put the tailgate back in place and use the allen wrench to put the new screw in. I put a little lock-tite on and called it good. Great product. Just wish the price was about half what it was.

    I added a bolt once...
There is a thread on this...but I haven't seen the JJ...
I used the clamp method and also cabled the hinges to the frame.
    I hate thieves...

I could be wrong but doesn't the jimmy jammer not work with newer 2nd gen tacos since the bolt it utilizes is tac welded now?

It works. I have it on my 2014. The screw it uses is in there pretty good. Almost looks like they used a little epoxy on it but it isn't tack welded. I used a 3/8" socket wrench with a torx socket. It was a while ago but I think it was about $27 plus shipping. Got it from Tuffy directly.

use a hose clamp face it downwards like the picture above so you have to use a long screwdriver up through the small crack in the tailgate.

I am currently running the hose clamp face down and an electric pop n lock.

Tailgate handle would not budge when the truck is lock.
