Monday October 13th here in Monroe/West Monroe, we were hit with an EF2 Tornado with a side of straight-line winds, peaking around 125-130mph. Amazingly I haven't heard of any fatalities here yet, but the damage is crazy. You see this kinda stuff on the news and are shocked but I guess it doesn't really hit home til it happens in your backyard and you have to see it every day.

Anyway, as far as people suffering damage, I kinda got off easy but I'm worried that I might have a total loss - will find out Monday morning. Speaking to a friend who does body repair, the hood and fender won't be hard to replace obviously, but the roof and side of the cab damage might be the kicker.

Luckily it's still drivable so I've still been driving it all week, plastic bag over the window and all! I get some funny looks though.

Gonna be sad if my baby is totaled.

Truck has a little over 168,000 miles, and before was in what I'd consider "very good" condition. KBB shows retail value of $15,825, NADA shows $17,325. Not sure what they go by or the formula for total loss determination.

Opinions? Think she has a chance of being saved?

I'm guessing totaled. Might want to look around for some stock parts to switch out with.

Mallet the roof back into place, the frame still looks straight. Buy new doors and you can buy the long travel fenders and get a carbon fiber hood. I think this is a WIN!!! Compared to the other vehicles, your Taco got lucky.

Yeah the damage is completely superficial (except maybe a little under the crushed hood. The doors are untouched actually, except for the rear driver side window, that made a mess.

I'm hoping for the best, prepared for the worst!

Per all the talk on TW threads about diminished value (DV) I'd be sure to consider this and future sale / car fax for your vehicle concerning this. This might bump the cost to a total??

I have that same Autobot hat. Got it from Circuit City when the first Transformers movie was released on DVD. You had to be one of the first 50 customers to buy the DVD in order to get the free hat.

I'm surprised all that wind didn't blow those rubber roof things out of the channels.

People lose 'em in car washes and just driving around, yet a tornado didn't.

Ha .. did you have extra glue on them ?
