Step 1, get one of those long lighter things (i call them strikers) and insert into headlight.
Step 2, Pull trigger and wait for bubbling or blacking of dtrl lens.
SStep 3, reinstall bulb, repeat on other side, and close the hood.
Step 4, drive to a DIFFERENT toyota dealer and try again.

DISCLAIMER: this is meant to strictly be a joke. I do not condone this. That being said, yes, it is a genius idea and yes it will probably work. Therfore, you can choose to interprete my "joke" any way you see fit. Good luck.

Got er done.....then undone it :D

Went to stealership and they put the new headlights in Saturday. These are damn nice sexy lights. The FUGLY Amber shit colored blinker lenses are now clear and double the thickness.

Then drove straight home and took them back out and boxed them up for storage.

Pretty neato. I have an '07 that have been cracked for about a year. The passenger side is actually falling out. So I printed out this 'warranty enhancement' and went to my local dealer...My truck was originally made for the Canadian market and was brought down here (legitimately) by the previous owner. The SA was giving me a hard time about that...said he would have to call Toyota to check if mine qualifies.
According to the bulletin, my Vin does fall in the range of acceptable trucks so we'll see what they say.
He was also giving me a hard time saying that the truck was out of warranty and doesn't qualify...I had to go over the Primary Coverage vs Secondary Coverage with him many times...he couldn't understand it!!
I got the impression that his default response for everything was "nope, we can't do it" instead of trying to do it and finding out it won't work. Big difference there.
We'll see how it goes...or if he even calls back!

Went to the dealer yesterday and they ordered up my new headlights per the bulletin. Drove up in the service lane and they inspected it, said they would call when the lights are in. All covered under the extended headlight warranty!!

Sweet, new lights for my 2011!

2011 Tacoma and at 42k miles I have noticed the burn spot on the headlights. Called dealer they said they would not replace it for free, since there is no recall just tsb. How do I get them to change their mind. Also both headlights are cracked.

That's bullshit. Print out the form and take it to the assholes. If it's from heat issue then they have to replace them.

Print out the TSB that's located in this thread and drive to the dealer, it clearly states Toyota extended the warranty on the headlights to cover this issue. This is not a recall, just an extended parts warranty issue.

My guess would be yes. I have mine on order and luckily I kept my old burned ones, undid whatever wasn't stock and no problem. Don't give them a reason to void the extension.

Damn! I just looked and my drivers side is starting to bubble! I might try to go to the dealer to see. You never know. But if not is there a plu and play bulb that isn't as hot I can throw in?

Anybody get this done with an Arb bumper? They said they might have to pull the bumper to get access...... And that labor wouldn't be covered.

I have a Demello bumper with hoops like the ARB and i tried myself to confirm the headlights will not come out without dropping the bumper. They quoted me over $150 in labor for that. That wasnt including removal of the winch and light bar to get the bumper off either. I dropped my bumper myself and left it in tue garage then went to the dealer (yes thats illegal without a crushbar atleast) and had them swap the lights then i drove back and reinstalled everything

Yea I was thinking about doing that, I live 5 min from the dealer. Or just taking the lights out at home, riding my bike there with the old lights, exchange for the new ones, then do it myself.

    Thanks!
