Guys, I have a few questions... ive never lifted a vehicle so I have some questions.
I got mine back from the dealer yesterday, they did a leveling kit which is (as i was told) 3 inches in front, one inch in back.
    So a couple things that I am experiencing that I wanted to ask about;
    1. The backup camera sees a good chunk of my tailgate paint, and less bumper. Is that expected?
    2. The ride makes the truck feel "heavier" does that make sense?
    3. Braking seems more "choppy".... like there is a bit of vibration

I really could be imagining allot of this (except the camera thing) I tend to over think things :)

    Any experienced advice?

    1. I don't think that the lift should alter the backup camera at all. Details on the truck will help determine this but the camera on 2nd gens is located near the the tailgate latch which has nothing to do with the lift components. Unless I am missing something.

    2. If you added a larger tire size when you did the lift then the truck is going to loose some power.

    3. Vibrations are typical for lifts. I would think more so with block/spacer type lifts than suspension lifts. You are changing the geometry of the driveline and other components which will cause them to operate at less than perfect angles. Acceleration and braking are common times when the vibrations are felt.

If it was the dealer who installed it I would take it back and tell them about the concerns. Might as well since it should have a warranty of some kind.

Thanks.... I didnt get new wheels yet, just the lift, they added a leaf on the back and spacer on front.
I will ask them about the camera.

Looks nice. Not sure why the truck feels heavier. Lift may have a small effect but it shouldn't be too noticeable. If you get bigger tires you will notice it though.

    1. Not sure why you would see more tailgate and less bumper since those are all fixed to the camera; but because you raised the front end more you won't see out as far since the camera is facing down more (in relation to the ground, not the tailgate and bumper) than before but I imagine the change would be small. The camera isn't adjustable is it?

    2. Define heavier? Like in cornering and handling in general or does it seem to accelerate less or something? It could have some extra body roll in corners due to being higher off the ground, ie higher center of gravity.

Do you possibly mean it rides stiffer? Did they use a shock spacer or a spring spacer to do the lift? A spring spacer preloads the coils and will create a stiffer ride.

    3. Yep, vibes and lift just go hand it hand in seems. I imagine you are feeling some axle wrap which is common with the factory leaf pack.

Kind of a long shot but was wondering if anyone had a 1st gen 96-04 aftermarket bumper there looking to sale. I'm sick of riding my back end down every trail haha.

As mentioned yes there will be different ride feeling when putting a lift in, I have seem to notice whenever you get work done on your truck your going to notice things that were already there before because now things are new and you're looking for problems
