Shoei all day. I wrecked in my Shoei and it held up phenomenally. Literally saved my life.

Scorpion and HJC for best bang-for-the-buck, also Shark. Shoe and Arai if you're going high end. It all depends on how it fits, and what weight and ventilation you're looking for.

Do the higher priced helmets have better airflow? Not too worried about weight as i have a monster ass noggin.

Full face doesn't cut the wind noise imo unless you have one of those collars that creates a seal between the bottom of your helmet and your neck.

I just ride with ear buds w/rubber inserts to block out external noise or ear plugs.

I have a Bell 3/4 open face in Large I'm selling for $45 bucks if your interested. I got it as a gift, and never used it. It's flat black too. Maybe an extra for your girl? I'm in central NJ. PM me if interested. I'm selling cuz I just sold my Harley, and only have a dual sport now. No plans on getting another cruiser again.

I use both an Arai corsair Rx-7, and I bought a Bilt techno helmet. The Arai speake for itself, top notch quality and fit.

The Bilt has built in Bluetooth and speakers for streaming music. It works very well, and is very comfy.

In my 45 years of riding, it's my experience that the more air flow and vents a helmet has, the louder it is. The rx7 is a race quality helmet and is loud as f*#*. Earplugs are required. Or maybe it's the exhaust from the carbon cans on my Italian V twin sport bike?..lol

(The Bilt is actually pretty quiet)

Then you could add a quiet rider helmet skirt, http://www.nojgear.com/Quiet_Rider_Classic_Helmet_Skirt_p/qr01-1.htm

My first helmet was an Arai corsair tommy Hayden replica. Crashed with that on and the insurance company bought me a new one. I got the same model but the Pedrosa replica. I sold my GSX-R a few years ago and started riding trials. Kept both helmets and put them in their bags. I currently wear an Airoh open face carbon TRR

I prefer a full face when cruising, because to be honest, a half helmet isn't going to help you worth a dang if you crash at 60MPH. I bought a Harley Davidson brand helmet myself, and I love it! It has a flip down face shield like the others, but what I love is that it is a modular helmet, so you can flip up the entire front if you want to when driving at lower speeds. Cost? $190!

I would go with an Arai, but try one on before you buy there are several different models and they each fit differently. Shoei makes some nice helmets as well but I have been wearing Arai's for 20 odd years.

I wear an Arai and love it, but try one one before buying one as they don't fit everyone the same. I've tried several brands but each year keep coming back to arai for the last 20 years.
