    Hey guys,

Being honest here. I don't know anything about trucks but I just picked up my first tacoma. It's a double cab sr5 short bed. I''d love to give it a small lift and wanted some opinions.

I'm not going to be doing a lot of off roading but do live in a rural part of CT with shitty dirt roads.

After doing a little research, seems like the blisten 5100 front and rear seems like a good option. Should I also go ahead and upgrade the leaf springs. I'm willing to spend up to a grand with parts and labor.

    Cheers,
    Seth

for about a 1k.. you could definitely get better than 5100's.

OME 885's and an AAL or the Icon pack (leave the overload in) and you would have a better ride and performance.

How much is a small lift? Lift the front 1.5" to level the truck and fit bigger tires?

    does a grand include tires?
a lift will look silly on stock tires (my opinion)

if you only lift it 1.5-2 inches it wont look too bad on the stockers.

I just put a 2.5" lift on mine. Had to return a bad wheel so I'm on stockers for a couple more days.

It doesn't look terrible with the stock tires, but it will definitely look nicer with the new wheels and more rubber.

I picked up some toyo open country AT 2's. I'd like to keep it under 3 inches.

If you never/rarely haul anything, a small block will keep the ride similar to stock. An add a leaf (AAL) is an overall better option, but will make things more stiff. People tend to hate on block lifts in the back because its the cheap route, but in my opinion any block 2" or less, and you will be fine.

I used a Wheeler's AAL instead of the rear blocks that came with my 2.5" lift. A little stiffer than stock and it rides very well. Also has the bonus of not getting as much squat in the back when you have weight in it.

If your going to spend up to $1K in parts I'd say you should do a better lift then the 5100's. Dont get me wrong that is a descent lift but since you live in a rural area I'd upgrade a little more and get a full 3" lift. Trust me you wont regret it!! :D
