Is there an actual advantage to a shifter vs a button for 4x4? Mine has always easily gone in

    meh. lots.
Amen to that. My front diff actuator started becoming very erratic about going into 4Hi a couple years back; and without 4Hi, there is no 4Lo.

Anyway, Toy Canada wanted over $700:eek: . I got a used one from the wreckers (still cost a couple 100) and prob solved. I still have the old one; I suspect a faulty solder trace near the connecter, as it would fail as it heated up, and work when cold.

They could. My first 2 toys had manual locking hubs and a transfer case shift that had 2hi, 4hi neutral and 4lo. I still like that better than the new ones. JMHO!

I like to think i paid a stupid amount of money for a basic truck cuz itll last longer than a full size at the same price that has all the good shit (heated mirrors, power seat, fuckin lights on every button, whatever else) and also hopefully it has better off road capabilities... thats worth some money to me too. we'll see this winter....

I recall when the dash was made of metal. Having a radio was a luxury item. Heat was optional. Today vehicles are comfortable but lacking the rugged nature of the originals

My Grandparents had a "Land-line" phone, with a rotary dial you had to use to call someone. When you were expecting a call, you had to hang out at the house all day and wait for the call to come in etc....

Damn I wish we could go back to that technology, smart phones blow and there's too many features and backlit shit.

You guys get me weak sometimes.

33Yrsoftoys- Not picking on you, just using your post as an example. I don't get why people are so against improvements in technology. I kind of chuckled when Ram got rid of the actual shift lever on the console, for that electric dial. But truthfully, having driven a friends new 2015 Ram 1/2 ton, it's kind of nice not having a bulky stalk behind the wheel, or a lever sticking up in the center console.

Hey Pool Runner, no offense taken,,,, hell, I consider it a complement! I too have the best Motorola smartphone, even a computer. I no longer have a landline. I actually enjoy new technology! My son just bought a new dodge ram with,, you guessed it, a dial gear shift! Kinda cool. There is, however, a part of me that really likes doing it myself. Shifting gears, with a clutch? Pulling a lever and (hearing) positive engagement. Getting out of the truck and manually engageing the hubs, and hearing the positive click, when they locked. Priceless!!! I guess if you had been there, you'd understand.

The knobs for the climate control come off to easily now that the radio is replaced. Did I do something wrong?
