Yeah, it's not going to do much for my WEEI sports radio either!

 

It would be awesome to have a fully upgraded system but it's easily a grand to do it correctly. I'd want a HU with nav and BT that would still interface with the truck. I honestly like the stock iPod integration as well. Then I'd need to do components, pull wire into the door, find a decent amp to do components and a sub and then figure out where to mount a sub in the truck. I'm not wild about the behind the console setup as it seems to kill the pass through space in the back of the cab.

I've kinda been there and done that with the STi (Pioneer Avic HU, Polk components, 2 amps, Polk sub, all new over-gauged speaker wiring, etc, etc). I don't mind how the OEM setup sounds all things considered. I was figuring if I found one for stupid cheap money (like $50), is it worth it.

Just being a dreamer right now. Can't be the only one, right?

 

I have the OEM unit and in my opinion it is decent. You don't get the clean crisp sound from an aftermarket or a lot of adjustment. But it does what its ment to, add some low end power. I'm glad I didn't pass it up when I was looking. I also have an OEM unit in my Scion and think it sounds good. In my previous cars I spent the 1K on a good system, it sounded great, but now I would rather spend the money on other mods. Just my two cents.

 

Perhaps you could look for a tube-style powered one, like the old Bazooka..

That's a stupid deal...but I just can't justify spending the cash or taking up the whole back of my truck. I felt like I was being all mature and stuff when I went from 2 subs to 1 in my car!

I appreciate the insight. I am well aware that aftermarket will sound 100x better.

Thanks for the insight...I think it will meet my needs. Now my goal is to make sure it fits the newer stereos and track one down for less than $50. I love a good challenge!

Hahaha no. They have a double cheese burger version with more fries that is a challenge. Finish it in 25 minutes and it's free, plus you get a $25 gift card.

I ate like 1/3 of that thing (we had an appetizer too) and I feel like dying right about now haha
