I have an 800w inverter under the drivers seat wired straight to the battery with 4ga wire and a 100amp inline fuse. I really want to run the invert to a switch on the dash to control the power but I'm not sure how to add this switch. It is an otrattw switch. Thanks in advance
How to, diagram, pictures or any help would be appreciated

High power relay. It'll work like a champ and I need to do the same!

Yep, use a relay. That way you aren't trying to run high current through a small switch.

Trust me when I say that this doesn't work... I may or may not have melted a switch like this... :anonymous:

2 compressors through a switch is a BAD idea

I guess, you mean that high current through small wires and a small switch. Not about a using a relay...lol

This is what I was thinking but I don't know how attach 4ga wire to a relay? Everywhere I have looked I could not find a connector.
What about taking off the front of the unit and splicing in a switch into the on off button

An 800w inverter will draw over 65A at full load. A typical relay as shown above is only rated at around 30A. Ensure you get a relay that's correctly rated.

Since I have the inline fuse would it be posting to take the front of the inverter off and somehow extend the on switch? I still can't find a way to attach 4ga to a relay

Yep, at full load, it will draw about 70 amp, depending on efficiencies. Google 80 amp automotive relay, or go ask a car stereo place.

Without extra parts is it possible to modify/bypass the on switch on the inverter and extend it to a switch on the dash?
